    I thought the initial response after the goal was very encouraging from Northern Ireland.

    It was a comfortable night for Eileen Gleeson's side in the end.

    Katie McCabe's penalty gave the away side the lead at the break before five goals in the second half gave the Republic of Ireland a much more comfortable advantage.

    The Republic of Ireland will be hoping for a similar result when they host Georgia at Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday night in the second-leg of the play-off.

    The winner of this play-off will face the winner of Slovakia v Wales in the second round of the play-offs as the Republic of Ireland look to claim one of the final seven spots left in Euro 2025.

    Wales came into the game off the back of an eight game unbeaten run, but it was the home side who were the 2-1 victors.

    That makes for an interesting game in Wales on Tuesday night.
