Benfica and Feyenoord have met four times before, all in the European Cup. Both games in Portugal ended in Benfica wins (3-1 in 1963, 5-1 in 1972), while Feyenoord were unbeaten in both games played in Netherlands (0-0 in 1963, 1-0 in 1972).
