Match Facts

  • This is the first ever European meeting between Young Boys and Internazionale – the Swiss side have never lost at home in the UEFA Champions League against an Italian side, winning 2-1 vs Juventus in 2018 and drawing 3-3 with Atalanta in 2021.

  • Internazionale haven’t faced a Swiss side in a major European competition match since September 1997, when they beat Neuchâtel Xamax 2-0 with goals from Francesco Moriero and Maurizio Ganz.

  • Young Boys have lost each of their last three games in the UEFA Champions League, and could lose four in succession for the first time in their history.

  • Internazionale are without a win in their last three away games in the UEFA Champions League (D2 L1), last enduring a longer such run in the competition in November 2019 (L4).

  • Since Internazionale’s first season in the UEFA Champions League under Simone Inzaghi in 2021-22, they’ve kept more clean sheets than any other side (17), including four in their last five games.

  • Only Crvena Zvezda (16) have lost more of their first 20 games in the UEFA Champions League than Young Boys (13), though all three of their wins in the competition have come at home.

  • The average age of Internazionale’s starting XI in the UEFA Champions League this season is 30 years and 181 days; the oldest of any side through the first two matchdays. Indeed, they’re the only team with a starting XI average age above 30.

  • Five of the eight goals that Young Boys have conceded in the UEFA Champions League this season have been in the first half, no side has conceded more. Indeed, the Swiss side also have the highest xG against in the first half of games (3.7) and have faced the second-most shots on target (10) behind Milan (12).

  • Lautaro Martínez’s goal against Crvena Zvezda last time out took his tally to 13 in the UEFA Champions League for Internazionale – his next goal will take him level with Adriano on 14 for most goals for the club in the competition.

  • Across the first two matchdays of this season’s UEFA Champions League, Internazionale striker Mehdi Taremi made the most high-intensity pressures of any player (160). Indeed, both of Inter’s goals from open play against Crvena Zvezda last time out were scored following a high turnover, with Taremi recovering the ball in both instances.
