Wrexham striker Steven Fletcher continued his fine run of form as he scored late on to seal victory over Peterborough United at the StoK Racecourse.
The game was Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson's 1,000th game as a manager, joining the likes of Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson - who was in attendance to watch his son Darren Ferguson's Peterborough side.
There were chances aplenty for Wrexham, who limited the visitors to just one shot on target in the whole game.
Paul Mullin, Matty James and Sebastian Revan all came close to scoring, but Wrexham once again turned to veteran striker Fletcher to save the day.
With 87 minutes on the clock, Ollie Rathbone's delivery was hung up for the 37-year-old, and Fletcher rose highest to head Wrexham in front.
It is the fourth time in six games that the former Scotland striker has come off the bench to score in the final few minutes.
The win moves Wrexham level on points with second-placed Wycombe, just outside the League One automatic promotion spots.
Defeat means Peterborough drop to 19th in the table, five points above the relegation zone.
Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson told BBC Radio Wales:
"It was always going to be a tough game – fourth game in quick succession. Of course the intensity levels from both teams were going to be difficult to replicate from previous games.
"We limited a team with a lot of attacking talent to nothing and the moment came for us with a brilliant cross from Ollie Rathbone and a great goal from Fletch.
"I don't think we should underestimate four games over the Christmas period and how hard the lads have worked."
Peterborough United manager Darren Ferguson told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire:
"We're bitterly disappointed we've lost the game. I didn't think there was anything in it to be honest, we went toe to toe with them.
"We competed really well against them because they're a powerful team. We had the best chance of the first half – I don't know how it's not gone in, it's gone off his legs and gone in the keeper's hands.
"But unfortunately I've seen it many times here – Wrexham found a way of getting a late goal. They're very good at it."
