If City dropped back 20 yards or so and gave Madrid the ball and let them have it at the back and in midfield, they couldn't hurt them.
They didn't. They still kept playing and pushing higher and higher, and it just takes one ball dropped in behind. Real Madrid saw the chance and took it.
