Whilst it might not be the best front three in Europe, give consideration and respect to the often overlooked Nottingham Forest front three of CHO, Wood and Elanga as they're crucial to Forest's meteoric rise up the table this season.

I see the “Best front 3 in Europe right now?” poll but I don’t see the option of Wood, Elanga & Hudson Odoi?

Easy to suggest Liverpool can go all the way this year, and they can, but they need to stop this habit of only performing for 45 minutes in matches, and a new centre-back in this window would ease some nerves.

  8. What do Celtic need to progress?published at 12:11 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

A win for Celtic against Young Boys could secure their passage into the Champions League knockout play-off round.

The Hoops currently sit 23rd on nine points and face a Young Boys side who are rock bottom having lost every game so far.

If Celtic take three points - an Arsenal win over Dinamo Zagreb plus a victor in the game between Paris St-Germain and Manchester City would see them through.

Brendan Rodgers' team travel to Aston Villa next week in their final fixture.

Liverpool must be favourites to win the Champions League; Man City will find form, and will likely reach the semi-finals; Arsenal will come unstuck in the last 16; Celtic, well I’m afraid they’ll not get past the play-offs.

    Celtic

Right, as promised, we will return to Rangers, Manchester United and their Europa League build-up a little later.

But let's switch our attention now to Celtic, who can take a significant step towards securing a place in the Champions League knockout stages when they host Swiss side Young Boys tonight.

  11. Rashford’s return?published at 11:58 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

Man Utd v Rangers (Thur, 20:00 GMT)

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

Marcus Rashford - who was training with the main Manchester United squad this morning ahead of the Europa League encounter with Rangers - has not played for United since being axed for the Manchester derby last month.

Sources close to the striker are adamant he is 100% committed to the club and has no issue with head coach Ruben Amorim.

Whether Amorim still has a problem with him is another matter.

    Manchester United

It has been a tough week for Manchester United, with plenty of home truths spoken following Sunday's 3-1 defeat at home to Brighton.

But there was a lot of laughing and smiling in today's training, with spirits looking high in the camp.

It will be interesting to hear manager Ruben Amorim's take on how the week has panned out behind the scenes at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese boss will be facing the media this afternoon and we will bring you all of the top lines from his news conference in this page.

Right, from Manchester City and their night of Champions League destiny in Paris to their rivals Manchester United back in Carrington.

Lots of focus on Marcus Rashford in the early part of training before Thursday's Europa League tie at home to Rangers.

Uncertainty remains around the striker's future but he has a huge smile on his face and looks firmly part of the group.

  16. Man City at PSG an 'interesting' must-win gamepublished at 11:34 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

PSG v Man City (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Matt Upson
Former England defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

Neither team want to lose this game. A draw isn't particularly brilliant either. It's literally one of those games in which a win is the only result that will elevate themselves out of that position. I think that makes it very interesting, certainly with Paris St-Germain at home and Manchester City going away and their last couple of away fixtures in the Champions League not going well.

Biggest winner from the new CL format? Clubs not in it!! With the exception of Liverpool everyone there needs to be fielding full-strength teams going into the last two games rather than rotating and resting - few teams will be looking forward to matches in the next couple of weeks.

The saying 'you've got to be in it to win it' does spring to mind Mike.

  19. Man City need 'significant' winpublished at 11:22 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

PSG v Man City (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    John Bennett
BBC reporter on Football Daily podcast 5 Live

It would be really significant if Manchester City were to win. They would go up above the likes of Benfica and Stutgartt and level with Club Brugge. Both City [24th] and Paris St-Germain [26th] are in serious danger of not making it through to the knockout stages.

  20. What do Man City need to progress?published at 11:20 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January

PSG v Man City (20:00 GMT)

It seems remarkable to be talking about Manchester City needing results to remain in the Champions League rather than secure a top eight place but that's where we are.

In fact, Wednesday evening's match for City away at Paris St-Germain has entered "must-win" territory for both.

City currently sit in the final play-off spot in the table in 24th on eight points with PSG just behind in 26th with seven points.

They may not need both, but at the moment, only two wins from two would guarantee Pep Guardiola's side a place in the knockout play-off round.
