He sends the keeper the wrong way!

The penalty looked as if it was awarded for a handball by a Stevenage defender inside the box.

Josh Magennis then steps up and slots home a beautiful spot-kick into the bottom left-hand corner.

A fast start by the visitors!

  5. One change for Robins; three for Chesterfieldpublished at 12:28 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Cheltenham v Chesterfield (12:30 GMT)

Michael Flynn makes one change from the Cheltenham side which drew 0-0 with Accrington on Tuesday with George Miller dropping to the bench and Ashley Hay coming in in his place.

Paul Cook, who makes three changes from the Chesterfield team which saw off Bromley 3-0, has chosen Paddy Madden, Tyrone Williams and Michael Olakigbe in his starting XI with Kyle McFadzean injured and Aribim Pepple and Liam Mandeville dropping to the bench.

Paul Cook's Chesterfield make the trip to Whaddon Road with a little more spring in their step having beaten Bromley 3-0 on Tuesday night to arrest a worrying slump of five games without a win.

And with six points between themselves and the final play off spot, they could really do with another three against the Robins today if they are reignite hopes of going up this season.

Cheltenham's latest offering, a 0-0 draw at Accrington will have been a difficult watch for travelling fans and it added to a feeling of inconsistency for Michael Flynn's side who have three wins and two defeats in the last 10 and have not strung two wins together in the league all season.

Looking for positives, Cheltenham, who are 10 points from the play off spots, can take heart not only from a 1-1 draw against today's opposition on the road in September and decent home form which has seen them win four of their last six.

  7. Two changes each for Gills and Notts Countypublished at 12:25 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Gillingham v Notts County (12:30 GMT)

Both managers make two changes from the sides they put out on Tuesday with Jack Nolan and Joseph Gbode dropping to the bench and Elliott Nevitt and Jimmy Morgan coming in for Gillingham.

For Notts County Charlie Whittaker and Matt Palmer are in with Jack Hinchy and Conor Grant out.

  8. Coleman searching for first winpublished at 12:23 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Gillingham v Notts County (12:30 GMT)

John Coleman is still looking for a first win in his fourth game in charge since taking over the reins at the Priestfield on 5 January and it is now no wins in seven for the Gills.

On the plus side, there have been signs of progress in their last two outings, battling to draws on the road against relegation-threatened Tranmere and mid-table Grimsby.

Gillingham took the points in the reverse fixture against Notts County in September, Elliott Nevitt scoring the only goal of the game. But they will have to be at their best against Stuart Maynard's side who arrive here in very good nick indeed.

The Magpies, who sit in third place just two points behind Doncaster in second, have won six of their last eight league fixtures and have been good travellers of late to boot, scoring 10 goals and taking all nine points from their last three road trips.

County, who beat Carlisle at home on Tuesday, have the chance to go into second place with a win ahead of Doncaster's 3pm kick off.

Morecambe are free to sign players again and have brought in forward Andrew Dallas from Barnsley ahead of a Lancashire derby with Fleetwood.

There's been much jiggery-pokery at Carlisle with 11 new signings in January to try to haul themselves out of trouble and they meet Swindon.

Tranmere will attempt to stop their freefall at home to Colchester while it's the same for Newport as they host Barrow.

Two defeats in a row have put a spanner in the Walsall promotion bandwagon but an 11 point cushion to fourth-placed Bradford should prevent anyone hitting the panic button ahead of today's meeting with Salford City.

Doncaster Rovers bounced back up to second with a Thursday night win at Barrow and they host MK Dons while Notts County are the current occupants of third place as they go to Gillingham.

Bradford and Crewe are hot on everyone's heels and the Bantams have a tasty trip to AFC Wimbledon while Crewe are at Harrogate.

Port Vale had the week off with their midweek game at Colchester postponed and they face Accrington Stanley.

Stevenage v Exeter in League One

Exeter City travel to a Stevenage side that are looking to build on some recent momentum having won their past two league matches.

The most recent of those two wins was an impressive 3-2 away victory over promotion chasing Wrexham.

The Grecians have no wins in their past five games but have a decent away record against the Boro, unbeaten across their last five at the Lamex Stadium.

Stevenage have lost just one of their last six home league games played on a Saturday, though that sole defeat came in their last match during a 2-1 loss to Wigan.

  12. Five changes for Barnsley; Burton unchangedpublished at 12:17 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Barnsley make fives changes from the team beaten at Wycombe in midweek.

Marc Roberts is suspended after his dismissal at Adams Park while goalkeeper Ben Killip is on the bench along with George Gent and Luca Connell while there is no place for Max Watters.

In come Joe Gauci, Mael de Gevigney, Adam Phillips, Kyran Lofthouse and Kelechi Nwakali.

Unsurprisingly when you've won three games in a row Burton are unchanged from the side which beat Reading in midweek with new signings James Jones and Fábio Tavares on the bench.

  13. Bowyer's Burton brewing up survival?published at 12:16 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

At the turn of the year even Masters champion Shaun Murphy may have struggled to get the snookers Burton needed to stand any chance of survival.

Rock bottom with just two wins from 23 games and eight points adrift of safety the Brewers appeared to be going in only one direction.

Gary Bowyer had been appointed in the middle of December and it has taken him time to unpick the mess he inherited but, in the five games since 1 January his side have picked up 10 points - the quick maths tells you that's two points per outing which the experts always have down as promotion form.

Like Burton, Jon Dadi Bodvarsson's season was going nowhere as a short-term deal at Wrexham was ended on New Year's Day without him finding the target in seven matches.

The Icelandic international has reignited at The Pirelli Stadium with four goals in three appearances coinciding with a three game winning spurt which has taken Burton to within three points of safety.

Wrexham midfielder James Jones on a permanent deal and forward Fabio Tavares on loan from Coventry City have arrived in the past 24 hours to bolster the survival bid.

Burton are also looking to win four league games in a row today for the first time since October 2023 - whisper it but they might get out of the considerable hole they dug themselves earlier in the season...

Barnsley, a big deal in League One or a club living off its recent past?

Expectations are high at Oakwell but the locals are restless and with Tuesday's late defeat by Wycombe dropping them out of the play-off places the pressure is rising in south Yorkshire.

The 2-1 loss at Adams Park made it three defeats in a row for Darrell Clarke's side, mind you that's after a four game winning streak had followed a run of one win in seven league outings - you see where we're going with this - inconsistency is dogging their season.

All that said though they are only two points adrift of the top six heading into a game with a resurgent Burton side.

With only utility player Neil Farrugia and goalkeeper Joe Gauci arriving so far in the transfer window there is a hope from supporters they can also conjure up a striker to help a frontline struggling for regular goals.

With games against Stockport and Huddersfield to come this is an important afternoon for Barnsley if they are to get back on track.

Three wins in a row have moved Burton Albion to within sight of safety and a lunchtime victory at Barnsley would jump them out of the drop zone ahead of the later kick-offs.

Crawley's midweek win at Mansfield also gives them hope ahead of a home meeting with Wrexham.

Cambridge United host Wycombe and Shrewsbury now have a seven point gap to make up as they meet Mansfield.

The side in immediate danger of being hauled into the bottom four are Northampton who meet Huddersfield.

Birmingham and Wycombe's midweek wins means they are in control of the two automatic promotion places, helped by Wrexham's slip-up at home to Stevenage on Tuesday.

Blues host Rotherham, the Chairboys are at Cambridge United and Wrexham visit Crawley.

Huddersfield have lost their past two as they visit Northampton.

Reading against Bolton has a fair bit riding on it but the game of the day is at Edgeley Park with fifth-placed Stockport facing a Leyton Orient side unbeaten in 11 league games with nine wins.
