  10. Nervy afternoon ahead for Saddlers faithful?published at 14:55 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Walsall v Salford (15:00 GMT)

    Adam Cottier
BBC Final Score reporter at Poundland Bescot Stadium

Walsall fans can be forgiven for feeling a little nervous ahead of today’s game.

Two straight defeats have come after the loss of both their leading scorers this season - one recalled from his loan and one suffering an injury.

Nathan Lowe and Jamille Matt have been key to Walsall’s rise this season and with Lowe departed and Matt absent again today, the onus today is on Josh Gordon and recent signing Ethan Wheatley to reinvigorate the league leaders’ attack after blanks in the last two games.

Salford were as high as second recently, but injury issues have affected them too it appears.

It’s going to be very interesting to see if blips become ruts for both these promotion chasers.

AFC Wimbledon v Bradford City (15:00 GMT)

Sixth host fourth as AFC Wimbledon welcome Bradford City to the Cherry Red Records Stadium (the artist formerly known as Plough Lane). And both will start the game believing recent form gives them the chance of a promotion boosting victory.

Johnnie Jackson's Wombles are unbeaten in six matches in the league and go into this off the back of a 1-1 draw on the road against Crewe.

The Bantams are in even better nick though, unbeaten in seven and having won six of those including a 1-0 home victory over Morecambe on Tuesday night.

Graham Alexander's side, in fourth place two behind Doncaster in second, are still coming to terms with losing their leading striker and talisman Andy Cook who suffered a season ending ACL injury on New Year's Day.

The Bradford boss argued that one man's season ending injury is another's opportunity calling on others to weigh in with eight goals in four games since Cook's injury, it is a call his side have answered.

Leyton Orient v Stockport in League One

A mouth-watering match to enjoy today as Leyton Orient host promotion rivals Stockport.

The Hatters sit one position above the O's in the table but just three points separate the two sides in sixth and fifth.

Orient have won four of their last five games and Stockport have been victorious in their last three outings.

Leyton Orient have won each of their last four home league games without conceding a goal in the process, the Londoners have not won five in succession whilst keeping a clean sheet in each in the EFL since November 1935.

  13. Can Wycombe keep hold of absent Kone?published at 14:46 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Cambridge United v Wycombe Wanderers (15:00 GMT)

    Marc Webber
Final Score at Cledara Abbey Stadium

Wycombe have been chasing the wolf that is Luton Town away from the door for a number of weeks, when it comes to their player, Richard Kone.

A number of bids have been made by the Hatters for the Chairboys forward, all have been rebuffed.

Interestingly, Kone is not even in the squad today, with the club saying he’s injured following a midweek knock.

Cambridge United are capable of taking points from the promotion-chasing sides despite their position in the relegation zone.

Like Burton, at one stage this season Cambridge United looked dead and buried as far as staying in League One goes but they have kept chipping away to just about keep themselves in touch.

Six points might look like a chasm to bridge for the more pessimistic of supporters but bigger gaps have been closed before.

The trouble is the U's are in one of those periods where losing is starting to become a habit - three defeats in the past four at home and six in the past eight in total paints a pretty dim picture.

Only Shrewsbury have a lower points-per-game return in League One but they're far from down at the moment.

As for Wycombe, well it doesn't seem to matter what is thrown at them they deal with it.

Defeats in their opening two league games to Wrexham and Birmingham, the loss of boss Matt Bloomfield to Luton and constant transfer speculation surrounding leading scorer Richard Kone have failed to derail their promotion push.

Tuesday's win over Barnsley means they now have a six point cushion over third-placed Wrexham and, as the top scorers in League One and the equal best away record alongside Birmingham there doesn't seem to be a lot that can go wrong.

Or are they famous last words?

  15. Blues' unbeaten run will be put to the testpublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Birmingham v Rotherham (15:00 GMT)

    Tom Gayle
BBC Final Score reporter at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park

Given both were relegated from the Championship last year, I don't think many could have predicted the 33 point gap between these two come the second half of the season.

Birmingham's 15 game unbeaten run across all competitions will be severely tested during February. Today's the first of seven fixtures this month, which also includes EFL trophy and FA Cup games, crammed into just 25 days.

Rotherham are eight points back from the play-off picture. Boss Steve Evans admitted he was grateful not to have been sacked after their poor start.

They’ve been much tougher to beat since the turn of the year, but surely have to improve their away form to get amongst the top six.

Only the bottom two sides, Cambridge and Shrewsbury, have won fewer games on the road.

  16. Blues in the groovepublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

Birmingham City v Rotherham United (15:00 GMT)

Birningham City supportersImage source, Rex Features

We're kind of running out of things to say about Birmingham City this season.

Tuesday's 1-0 win at Huddersfield saw them overcome what was seen as a major hurdle in their promotion push and they're now eight points clear of third place.

Blues are unbeaten in 12 home games in the league and it's 450 minutes since they conceded a League One goal at St Andrews (Northampton, 9 November before you ask).

That record goes a long way to explaining why they have the best defence in the division with just 18 goals shipped in 26 games.

Rotherham fans may well be travelling more in hope than expectation with one win in their past eight league games and failing to score in five of those hardly a good advert for a day out in the Midlands.

Oh and the Millers last league win in the country's second city was in September 2015.

But don't let any of that put you off, these records have to come to an end at some point...

  19. 'Gillingham deserved nothing out of the game'published at 14:30 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    FT: Gillingham 1-2 Notts County

    Mark Stallard
Former Notts County striker on BBC Radio Nottingham

The form that Notts County are in is great, it has been a phenomenal turn around - the scoreline doesn't do it justice.

The fact we were looking at the watch or I was looking at the watch after that consolation goal as it proved 10 minutes before time, was because Gillingham deserved nothing out of the game .

It would of been criminal if Notts had contrived to only come away with a point, in a game they absolutely dominated throughout.

2-1 doesn't tell the whole story, but often score lines don't.

  20. FULL-TIMEpublished at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February

    Cheltenham 1-0 Chesterfield

Is there anything more satisfying, or crushing, than a last gasp winner?

For Cheltenham, the music will be cranked up in the dressing room, after Arkell Jude-Boyd's late winner, stabbed home when Max Thompson could not hold on to Jordan Thomas's shot, proved the difference.

Chesterfield, who hold on to ninth ahead of this afternoon's action, might count themselves unlucky having probably shaded the 91 minutes which preceded the Robins' winner, but they could not put away any of their chances.
