Almost the dream debut for Preston defender Lewis Gibson.

Stefan Thordarson delivers a free-kick into the box which is met by the head of Gibson but it goes just wide of the left hand post.

    Are you watching Pep?

That's 11 for the season for American striker Charlie Kelman who is afforded too much time and space in the area as Derby fail to deal with a set-piece to take a touch and pick his spot past Jacob Widell Zetterstrom.

The Os have the lead, and Man City await the winner in round four.

  3. YELLOW CARDpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Preston 0-0 Charlton

We have the first yellow of the game as Charlton defender Lloyd Jones goes into the referee's book for a late challenge on Milutin Osmajic.

  4. Postpublished at 20:05 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Goalmouth action!

Lucas Akins does well to hold up play for the Stags before finding Hiram Boateng, whose low shot is saved by Latics keeper Sam Tickle.

  5. Postpublished at 20:04 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Leyton Orient 0-0 Derby

Brief stoppage in play in E10 for some treatment for Os defender Jack Simpson, who has been hobbling about for a couple of minutes.

Bit of magic spray and he's ok to continue. The real magic of the cup.

  6. Postpublished at 20:03 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Preston 0-0 Charlton

We've had a couple of efforts from both sides.

Duane Holmes had an effort blocked for the home side and Freddie Woodman made a pretty routine save from Charlton's Tyreece Campbell as he cut in from the left from a tight angle.

Both these sides are just feeling each other out.

  7. Postpublished at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Mansfield 0-0 Wigan

You'd be forgiven for thinking this one had been postponed again, so little of note has happened, but I promise you we're nearly 15 minutes in and the most significant action has been a few firm challenges in midfield from Stags debutant Matthew Craig, who has got the home fans onside already.

  8. Postpublished at 19:59 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Leyton Orient 0-0 Derby

End-to-end stuff as Kenzo Goudmijn sees a powerful shot unfortunately blocked by teammate Nat Phillips at one end, before Orient break away, ending with Sean Clare firing well over the bar.

  9. Postpublished at 19:55 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Preston 0-0 Charlton

A quiet start to proceedings in this one.

Charlton have forced a couple of corners and Preston have had the first shot of the game but nothing too much happening as of yet.

  10. Postpublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing whips in a free-kick from out wide for Derby but Kane Wilson can only flick an effort the wrong side of Josh Keeley's upright, from a Rams point of view.

  11. Postpublished at 19:51 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Derby have settled down nicely, Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has shown a couple of nice early touches and Marcuss Harness has seen a cross into the box deflect into the arms of keeper Josh Keeley.

  12. CLOSE!published at 19:49 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

    Leyton Orient 0-0 Derby

Bright start from the hosts who are clearly brimming with confidence after their splendid recent form.

Preston boss Paul Heckingbottom hands a debut to new signing Lewis Gibson.

The defender featured in 18 Championship games for Plymouth Argyle this season but made the move to North End earlier this month for a reported seven figure fee.

There's a place on the bench for experienced striker Ched Evans. The former Wales international has been sidelined through injury since signing in June and has not yet featured for the first team.

Lilywhites top scorer Emil Riis is also named amongst the substitutes.

Nathan Jones has made two changes to his Charlton side this evening.

Will Mannion and Gassan Ahadme start while Ashley Maynard-Brewer and Miles Leaburn revert to the bench.

    Preston v Charlton (19:45 GMT)

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

Paul Heckingbottom has done a pretty steady job at Preston, and his side has climbed the table because he's made them hard to beat.

Charlton are on quite a good run themselves and are five games unbeaten, but I just fancy Preston to grind another result out.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-0

    Mansfield v Wigan (19:45 GMT)

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

Wigan boss Shaun Maloney is another of my old team-mates, up against Nigel Clough who has now spent more than 26 years as a manager.

Clough's Mansfield side have got stacks of experience too and he has done an incredible job to get them where they are.

I fancy Mansfield here, with a bit of old-school nous helping them find a way to win.

    Sutton's prediction: 1-0

  20. Sutton's predictionpublished at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 14 January

Leyton Orient v Derby County (19:45 GMT)

    Chris SuttonImage source, BBC Sport

Derby boss Paul Warne used to play alongside me for my old village team, Horsford Under-12s.

His side have lost their past three games and Leyton Orient have won five in a row, so I suppose there is a possible upset here - but Paul won't allow that.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2 after extra time
