A home tie against Premier League opposition is also the carrot for Mansfield and Wigan as Fulham await the winners of this clash of League One rivals in round four.

The Stags sit eight places higher in the League One table than the 2013 winners, but the Latics do have a fine record on their travels in the competition.

Shaun Maloney's men have won six of their past eight away ties in the competition, including the past four in a row.

Nigel Clough's side have gone out in nine of their past 10 ties played at the third round stage but with the prospect of a top-tier visitor in round four, they'll be keen to put that right tonight.

Championship side Preston North End welcome League One’s Charlton to Deepdale for their first FA Cup meeting since 1966.

The Lilywhites have only won three of their past 17 games in all competitions, however they have been victorious in their past four meetings with tonight's opponents.

Charlton will be hoping to go one further tonight having lost each of their past four FA Cup third round ties, last reaching the fourth round in the 2013-14 season.

The Addicks are among the goals so far in this competition though having scored at least four in three of their past four away matches, including both so far this season. A 4-3 win at Southend in the first round and a 4-0 win at Walsall in the second.

Nathan Jones’ side who sit 11th in League One go into this unbeaten in their past six games in all competitions.

A home tie against second in League One Wycombe Wanderers awaits the winner.

Leyton Orient lost their first four games of the League One season but have picked up 37 points from 20 since then, the fourth highest total in that time.

They brought in the likes of Sonny Perkins, Jamie Donley, Josh Keeley, Jack Currie and Charlie Kelman on loan and boss Richie Wellens said his side had "bloomed" after a tricky start .

They host Derby at Brisbane Road in the FA Cup having beaten Boreham Wood on penalties before producing a stunning 2-1 comeback win against Oldham Athletic in November.

Since then, they have gone nine matches unbeaten in all competitions, winning eight and conceding just two goals.

"We scored the winner (against Oldham) in the 121st minute and our run since then has been incredible – clean sheets for fun, scoring loads of goals, and it's just been a group of young players that's come together," said Wellens.

"We've still got our experienced guys who are the glue of the squad but the likes of Donley, Keeley, Jack Currie, all these kids now like Sonny Perkins.

"It's like a flower – it just bloomed. They're enjoying it, they're not thinking about every aspect of the game; they're playing with a freedom and at the moment they're a joy to work with."

Derby manager Paul Warne gives a thumbs upImage source, Rex Features

The postponement of Saturday's original tie might just have done Derby boss Paul Warne a favour.

The Rams boss, his staff and members of his squad were laid low by illness in the run-up to the weekend, leading to the club pushing back their pre-match press call by 24 hours and then conducting interviews remotely to prevent any further spread.

The extra 72 hours also means both Warne and opposite number Richie Wellens know just what is at stake tonight, the winners will host Manchester City in round four on the weekend of 8/9 February.

In-form Orient have won nine and drawn the other of their past 10 games in all competitions, and if they can extend that tonight it will take them into the fourth round for the first time in 14 years.

1946 winners Derby have lost three straight, were dumped out of the competition in round one last season by Crewe and haven't been past round five this century.

They have only one once away from home all season, at Coventry in November, and went out of the EFL Cup at the first hurdle on penalties after a goalless draw in August.

Yes, we are back, for a sixth straight night of FA Cup third round football... don't say we don't spoil you!

Now let's be honest, tonight's action wasn't supposed to be taking place on a Tuesday - our three ties have been hastily rearranged following their postponement in the freezing conditions on Saturday.

However that has merely allowed the anticipation to build, and it also means the clubs know what is at stake as the draw for round four has already been made.

Let's take a look at what we have in store, shall we?
