They can't defend. They are just horrendous.

The best thing for Ange [Postecoglou] is that he's probably going to get to the end of the season.

He put himself under pressure by saying he always wins a cup in his second year.

Tottenham better hope that they win some kind of cup, because finishing in the top four this season is just not going to happen.

So the only saving grace is if he actually delivers a cup; whether it's the League Cup or the FA Cup or even the Europa League.

But he's got to deliver something because of the words that he put out there.

  4. Tottenham's injury listpublished at 07:55 Greenwich Mean Time

Ange Postecoglou has a point when it comes to his defensive injuries.

Spurs are currently without goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and full-back Ben Davies.

Vicario is out until at least March with a foot injury. Romero and Van de Ven have thigh injuries and their return date is not yet known. Spurs are hopeful Davies will return in the next week or two after a thigh issue of his own.

He [Slot] is making it look way too easy.

And the thing that's crazy is that no one had any idea what to expect with Arne Slot going in.

No one even thought Liverpool would be competing for the Premier League title.

What he's brought is a great level of professionalism, commitment and a high level of consistency from every single player.

Regardless of that starting line-up, you get the highest performances from every single player.

Absolutely unbelievable; to do that in the Premier League and Champions League.

  8. Mohamed Salah Liverpool statspublished at 07:36 Greenwich Mean Time

And if you have not captained him yet, here are some more reasons why you should:

    • Mohamed Salah is the first player to reach double figures for both goals and assists before Christmas in a Premier League season in the history of the competition.
    • With just 16 games played, this is the joint-quickest that a player to hit double figures in both categories in a single Premier League campaign since Harry Kane, who also took 16 matches to do it, in 2020-21.
    • This is the sixth Premier League season in which Salah has both scored and assisted 10+ goals; the most of any player in the competition’s history (overtaking Wayne Rooney’s five).
    • His double against Spurs takes his Liverpool tally of 229 goals in 373 games, moving ahead of the legendary Billy Liddell and into fourth place on the club's list of all-time scorers.

This will be the 21st time Liverpool have been top of the English top-flight on Christmas Day; the most of any side. They’ve gone on to win the title in 11 of those previous 20 seasons.

Arne Slot might have looked as if he was taking on the impossible job when he succeeded Klopp in the summer, but Liverpool's appointment of the former Feyenoord coach looks more like a masterstroke with every passing week.

He has won 21 of his first 25 games in charge, the fastest any manager has reached such a figure in charge of a top-flight English club since William Suddell with Preston in 1888-89.

And with this latest spectacular triumph, it means this is only the third time in Liverpool's history they have reached Christmas Day without being beaten away from home.

Slot's calm demeanour and analytical, meticulous approach, differs from Klopp's more emotion-driven style: low-key waves to Liverpool fans replacing the frantic fist pumps. The current team is a reflection of his personality. The league leaders still possess the attacking riches and threat of his predecessor but with the Dutchman's tweaks adding greater composure.

    Tottenham 3-6 Liverpool

Let's start in north London where Liverpool put six past Tottenham to move four points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Luis Diaz and Alexis Mac Allister put the Reds 2-0 in front only for James Maddison to pull one back.

Mohamed Salah set up Dominik Szoboszlai to restore Liverpool's two-goal lead before the break. Salah then scored twice himself in the second to make it 5-1.

Dejan Kulusevski and Dominic Solanke briefly threatened a Spurs comeback, but Diaz's second and Liverpool's sixth late on completed a thumping win.
