  1. International break... complete!published at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    #bbcefl

We may only have had 17 games this afternoon, but they provided as much drama, if not more, than a full programme of fixtures.

We've seen controversial penalties awarded and not given, early goals, late goals, red and yellow cards and a free-kick on the edge of the six yard box... what more mayhem could you ask for?

Fans of Wrexham, Crawley, Bradford and Carlisle will sleep a lot easier this evening, though there will likely be disturbed nights in the households of Charlton, Bristol Rovers, Walsall and Morecambe fans.

Luckily for you all there's not long to wait for your next dose of EFL drama.

We'll be here on Tuesday night as League Two's bottom side Carlisle host MK Dons while Port Vale entertain Barrow, and we're also here on Thursday for the League One clash between Leyton Orient and Stevenage.

Thanks for your company this afternoon, enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Walsall's point against Gillingham keeps them ahead of rivals Bradford City but for how long?

The Saddlers have now not won in six league games while Bradford move to within one point with a statement 4-1 win over Colchester.

The U's also see themselves out of the play-off spots, with Grimsby gaining traction thanks to a win over Newport County.

While Port Vale's late victory over lowly Morecambe puts them level on points with third-placed AFC Wimbledon.

The Shrimps' loss will carry some extra sting after basement dwellers Carlisle's important 2-1 win over Bromley moves them closer to escaping bottom place.

But Tranmere's goalless stalemate with Fleetwood now means the two teams in the relegation zone are now seven adrift of safety and getting increasingly nervous.

  3. Great Scott, Crawley stay in touch...published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

The table will make far happier reading for Crawley and new/old boss Scott Lindsey this evening.

The Reds' 1-0 win over Bristol Rovers just about kept the Gas within reach, while Northampton also lost at home to Blackpool.

Cambridge United couldn't hold on for what would have been an equally precious win on the road at Barnsley and things remain bleak for the basement boys with games running out.

  4. What a day for Wrexhampublished at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

Sure, Birmingham look like they are home and dry, but Wrexham joined Blues in the automatic promotion places with another narrow win, this time over Stockport... and also saw red-hot Charlton humbled at Peterborough to make their day even better.

Blackpool rise into the top 10 courtesy of their win at Northampton but might have too much to do to gatecrash the play-off party, while Barnsley's hopes look over after being held at home by Cambridge United.

  5. League Two results round-uppublished at 17:06 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

AFC Wimbledon stay third...but it could have been so much better.

When they went 2-0 up in the 85th minute they were going to chisel out a three-point lead in the automatic places.

But Barrow pegged them back to share a 2-2 thriller, while Ronan Curtis notched an 89th minute winner for Port Vale over Morecambe.

A massive win for Carlisle at the bottom of the table as they led twice before eventually beating Bromley 2-1.

MK Dons beat Cheltenham 1-0, while Chesterfield and Harrogate, Fleetwood and Tranmere, and Swindon and Accrington all failed to find the back of the net.

  6. 'A massive blow for Stockport'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    FT: Wrexham 1-0 Stockport

    Joe Bunney
Former Rochdale and Stockport defender on BBC Radio Manchester

It won't matter how they win but it's all about a win for Wrexham at this stage of the season.

There's not been a lot of quality in it but Wrexham have ground out a win.

It's a massive blow for Stockport and the way they lost the game was controversial.

There was a lack of quality from both sides, it was a cagey game.

Stockport struggled to open Wrexham up and create any chances.

They probably should have come away with a point and it makes the next game even bigger.

Scott Lindsay is back at Crawley and has an immediate impact to end an eight-match winless run.

Kamari Doyle's calm first half goal is the difference over Bristol Rovers - with the Red Devils nine points behind Rovers.

It would have been a vital win for Cambridge as well, but Jonathan Lewis' 92nd minute equaliser for Barnsley ruined their day.

Blackpool's play-off hopes are alive after a 2-0 win over Northampton, while Lincoln and Exeter played out a goalless draw.

  8. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Wrexham 1-0 Stockport

Wrexham land a big blow in the promotion race.

Jay Rodriguez's first Red Dragons goal, just before the half-hour, turning in the rebound after seeing his own penalty saved by Corey Addai, is the difference.

The visitors gave as good as they got and Callum Connolly saw a powerful header tipped onto the bar by Arthur Okonkwo while Jayden Fevrier fizzed inches wide before Brad Hills saw red for a second caution for the visitors late on.

Wins over Wycombe and Stockport in back-to-back games is the kind of thing promotion-winners do... can the Red Dragons see it through?

  9. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Gillingham 0-0 Walsall

Walsall pick up an important point but can't get the better of the Gills on the road.

  10. CLOSE!published at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Gillingham 0-0 Walsall

Walsall are hunting a late winner.

Substitute Alfie Chang delivers a brilliant corner kick and Harry Williams is able to get on the volley but lifts it too high above the net.

Well into the nine added minutes now.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:54 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Bradford 4-1 Colchester

A superb Bradford performance puts a stop to Colchester's impressive 13 match unbeaten run and gets the Bantams closer to catching the league leaders.

Calum Kavanagh and George Lapslie scored on either side of halftime to please a record breaking Bantams crowd as the U's were unable to find answers, conceding almost as many goals against City as they have in their past five matches.

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Peterborough 3-0 Charlton

Peterborough are on the up, make no mistake.

Charlton's momentum has taken an almighty hit at London Road this afternoon, but it might have been so different had keeper Will Mannion not handled Kayne Ramsay's backpass six yards out on 38 minutes.

Sam Hughes nodded home after the melee from the indirect free-kick and five minutes later Abraham Odoh scored a fine solo goal against his former club.

The Addicks were the better side before the break but were undone at regular intervals after the turnaround and Malik Mothersille's clincher on 79 minutes was one of four or five glorious chances to add to their advantage.

A big blow to the Addicks' promotion hopes, but Posh are looking up.

Angus MacDonald had thumped the ball in from close range for Exeter but the referee has spotted a hand ball. Boss Gary Caldwell doesn't agree and sees red for his protestations.

Barnsley have a 92nd minute equaliser through Jonathan Lewis - a well-timed run and bundled finish. Cambridge thought they were getting a crucial three points.

  16. 'Morris has made some important saves'published at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Gillingham 0-0 Walsall

    Peter Lloyd

  17. Postpublished at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Peterborough 3-0 Charlton

A couple of glimpses of goal for Addicks sub Gassan Ahadme but he is pipped to the ball by a defender initially, then sees a far-post effort deflected wide, while from the resultant corner Jed Steer fails to claim but flings himself in the way of Chuks Aneke's low effort and the Addicks man then lashes the loose ball wide of the target.

    Into stoppage-time we go...

    Finally!

Port Vale have taken the lead.

Ronan Curtis slots the ball into the bottom corner from 25 yards.

A sucker punch for Morecambe's survival chances, but a massive goal for Vale's hopes of playing in League One next season.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Gillingham 0-0 Walsall

The Saddlers need to be careful not lose their point here.

Gills substitute Jacob Wakeling goes hurtling up field and the Walsall defence can't keep up with the pace.

He cuts to Elliott Nevitt in the penalty area, who is clinical with his touch but Walsall keeper Sam Hornby is just as effective as he denies the striker a lead.

  20. 'Colchester still have to keep their concentration'published at 16:48 Greenwich Mean Time 22 March

    Bradford 4-1 Colchester

    David Gregory
    Ex-Colchester midfielder on BBC Essex

Bradford have proved they are a very, very good side but you still have to keep your concentration until the final whistle to not concede any more goals.
