I won't say Manchester City's meeting with Real Madrid is their most important game this week for two reasons.

Firstly, if City were to lose today, it would be very important. Secondly, manager Pep Guardiola always says the most important game is the one in front of you.

But the meeting with Carlo Ancelotti's side on Tuesday is certainly the most glamorous.

Guardiola complained after the draw his side had been given a Saturday FA Cup tie, thus reducing their preparation time.

However, Real have even less. They play Atletico in a crunch derby encounter tonight.

Manchester City welcome record 15-time European champions Real Madrid to Etihad Stadium on Tuesday.

First, they have a job to do at the Gaughan Group Stadium - otherwise known as Brisbane Road.

The teams are starting to gather in the tunnel.

I think it has been outstanding what Richie Wellens has done with Leyton Orient. It's always difficult at this level to put a marker down about what sort of coach you want to be. Since he has come to Leyton Orient, he feels the love from the fans and the players. Everyone is buying in and when everyone buys in, you can see what he can do. I think he is a top manager and I think he could do the level above as well.

There will be 9,000 packed inside by kick-off which is minutes away.

In addition to forking out £32 for an adult ticket, Manchester City's travelling fans had to set their alarm clocks nice and early to make the 200 mile plus journey in time for the start.

City have sold out of their 1,264 allocation.

Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens on 5 Live's FA Cup Kick-Off: "Manchester City are not a normal Premier League team - they're the best of the best. There's going to be a bit of nervousness.

"This is a testament to how far this club has come in the past six years. We nearly went out of business and then the new owners took over. We won the National League and then we had the tragic death of Justin Edinburgh (2019).

"That set the club back two or three years. When I joined the club in 2022 we were 20th in League Two. My first thought was to keep us up. Within 15 months we won League Two and now we're in the top six in League One.

"The cherry on top of the cake is this massive tie against the best team the Premier League has ever seen."

Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens pays a fulsome tribute to Manchester City and their manager Pep Guardiola in today's programme.

However, as a Manchester United fan and former youth player, he can't help feeling a little irritated at the success Guardiola has had with the Blues.

"Today is a special occasion for us but it's one we're taking extremely seriously and we're not here to just make up the numbers," he said.

"Manchester City have world class players and one of the finest managers of this generation in Pep Guardiola. As a Manchester United fan, it has hurt to see the amount of success they have had in recent years but it is impossible not to admire the job he has done."

There are 45 places between Leyton Orient and Manchester City.

Will the O's produce one of the great upsets in recent times?

"We’ve signed four players in the last couple of weeks, none of them can play, they’ve [Man City] signed four players for about £180m, they can all play because they came from overseas," Leyton Orient chairman Nigel Travis told BBC Radio 4's Today programme.

"So that’s made it a little bit more difficult but you never know. The chances are about 11%."

England have won the World Cup since Leyton Orient and Manchester City last met in a competitive fixture 59 years ago.

The most recent meeting on 7 May 1966 came 84 days before Bobby Moore captained England to World Cup glory against Germany at Wembley.

Leyton Orient chairman and co-owner Nigel Travis, speaking to Radio 4's Today programme: "There’s a lot of fever, not only about the FA Cup but our position in the league. We’ve got ourselves into good spot in the play-off area, so there’s a lot of excitement and I think this is the end of the first leg of the journey that started when we were virtually out of business in 2017.

"We were in the National League and right now we’re towards the top of League One."

The seats in this stadium are set back slightly from the edge of the stand, so there is quite a bit of room for supporters to stand and watch the players doing their warm-up.

For obvious reasons there are more supporters on the Manchester City side than the Leyton Orient one, although the visiting squad are on the far side compared to the main stand.

Just from the reception both sides received as they came out, the atmosphere is going to be fairly lively at the start.

Leyton Orient's players need to feed off it, Manchester City's have to quieten it down.

A step back in time to 1978 when Leyton Orient - then known as just Orient and in the second tier of English football - went all the way to the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

They lost 3-0 against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal then lost to Ipswich in the final.

We can't forget that there is another FA Cup match kicking off at 12:15 GMT today and it's an all-Championship tie at Elland Road with Leeds United taking on Millwall.

The record certainly looks to favour Daniel Farke's side going into this one with Leeds having won eight of their past nine home games against The Lions in all competitions.

Millwall did, however, get one over on Leeds earlier in the season - a 1-0 win at the Den back in November.

I sent a picture of the cosy Leyton Orient press room to someone at Manchester City, who replied - it is better than Huddersfield in 2017 (which was the Terriers pre-Premier League days).

At Premier League grounds, the media get fed. Here, you make your own cups of tea or coffee.

That is perfectly normal but is an indication of the 'get on with it' mentality at League One clubs and why Leyton Orient will be such tricky opponents for Manchester City today.

It's a wet and grey day in east London, although that is more in keeping with Manchester.

It's 14 years since a fresh-faced 17-year-old loanee from Tottenham was banging in the goals for Leyton Orient in League One.

Little did O's fans know back then that they were watching a future England captain in action.

Harry Kane has gone from scoring for Leyton Orient in 2011 to becoming England men's all-time record goalscorer.
