Oldham snapped a three-game losing run and consolidated fourth spot in the National League with a 2-1 win against Hartlepool which ends the North East side's play-off hopes.

The home side dominated the opening exchanges with Vimal Yoganathan firing over, Tom Conlon sending a free header wide and Charlie Raglan having an effort cleared off the line.

But it was Hartlepool who took the lead in the 39th minute as Gary Madine's shot was saved and the loose ball was turned back in by Luke Charman for Mani Dieseruvwe to convert from close range.

The visitors' joy was short-lived, however, as Raglan equalised with a header from a Conlon corner just over a minute later.

Striker Mike Fondop, who had a forgettable spell with Hartlepool, nodded in the winner for Oldham after 63 minutes.
