This will be the first ever Football League meeting between Stevenage and Wigan, while the Latics will be Boro’s 70th different such opponent. Stevenage haven’t won their first Football League meeting with a new opponent since November 2015 against Bristol Rovers (P9 D2 L7 since).
When facing a new opponent for the first time in the Football League, Wigan have won eight of their last nine such matches, including each of their last four since a 0-1 defeat to Burton Albion in November 2015.
Having lost only one of their first nine league matches this season (W5 D3), Stevenage have lost their last two, and could lose three in succession for the first time since April 2022 (run of four).
Wigan have lost five of their last six league games (W1) including each of the previous three; they last lost four in a row as a League One side in November 2020.
