England manager Sarina Wiegman on Lucia Kendall's best position: "At the moment I see her as a midfielder. I think she has performed really well for Aston Villa and I want to see her there.

"She reads the game really well and she is tough in duels but also is doing really well in possession. Her positioning and her game understanding is really good."

  8. 'I did not see it coming'published at 11:45 BST

England manager Sarina Wiegman: "It's nice to see fans and for the fans it's nice when you move a bit so everyone gets an opportunity to see us. It's exciting, many people can watch us. We've never played at Derby I think. It's so exciting to see the fans. But even in Switzerland there were 40,000 England fans. It's really nice."

England manager Sarina Wiegman talks about changes to her coaching team with Janneke Bijl and Arvid Smit coming on to her staff: "We started working straight after the Euros. We haven't seen the team but we are getting settled with quality coaches and different personalities.

"What I am trying to figure out is the roles and responsilbilites, what they take on and how we collaborate to support the team as well as possible. It gives us new energy."

  11. 'I made the move' to get Hindspublished at 11:41 BST

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman on calling up players who hav ebeen selected for the first time: "Of course it's nice to do. They were surprised. Some were quieter than others. They didn't expect it that much so it is really nice to give that message. I hope they just go out there and play football and show what they're about."

Who made the first move with Taylor Hinds rejoining England: "I made the move. I gave her a call and said we wanted to bring her in. Then the conversations started. Of course we've been following her. What we want is to see what she can bring for our team and then we will see."

  12. 'When you stand still you are lost'published at 11:38 BST

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman: "We celebrated a little bit. Then I took some time off. After two weeks you want to get started again. I moved on really quickly too. There are games coming up, I am already thinking ahead of what we need to do. Where can we get better? That's what we can control, to get better.

"Time flies. What we always say is that, of course it has been a massive summer again, of course we won the Euros which is incredible and will always be incredible. We had to celebrated that and get connected with our fans which is really nice. But at the same time we are looking forward. When you stand still you are lost. The players know that."

England have 20 of the Euro 2025-winning squad in the latest 25-player group, with one of those being Maya Le Tissier.

And Sarina Wiegman is asked about the Manchester United player's versatility: "She players centre-back every single game and has good performances but for us her first position is still as a right fullback but we also know she can play centre back."

England manager Sarina Wiegman: "You're always thinking a little bit further ahead. The next goal is qualifying for the World Cup and then going to the World Cup. There are 10 camps before the World Cup, although let's not forget to qualify first.

"These next two windows there are friendlies. There is a chance to try many players and hopefully if you do really well and you win the group there will be opportunities to play more friendlies. We want to get as many opportunities to see many players, but also keep winning games.

"We are also watching other countries too, what are the trends, what are the styles of plays. But also what do we want to work on."

England manager Sarina Wiegman on players retiring just before squad announcements: "I don't see it as a trend. I think it's how the game goes. It's a natural process that young players come in, and players who are further in their career make the decision to retire.

"Sometimes I tell players they won't be selected anymore and then they retire. I think that's a natural process. Now we've had a couple. These players have had a tremendous career with huge highs, and now it's time to move on from them."
