  1. Taylor Hinds 'excited' to play for Englandpublished at 11:26 BST

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman: "We have been following Taylor for a long time, of course she has gone through the pathway. She has a dual heritigate so she is available for us. We've started having conversations. Yes she hasn't played that much for Arsenal, but also we are in a new situation. We are going into a new cycle. I want to see talented players in different positions. She is a left-footer. Yes she hasn't played that much but she did play the other day against Lyon.

"She wanted to come in. She feels really close to England like she also feels with Jamaica.

"She's really excited to come into our environment. She feels connections with England just as she does with Jamaica."

England manager Sarina Wiegman on a first call up for Katie Reid: "It's exciting for her. She started playing for Arsenal quickly this season. She has done good in the pathway and I have seen some good things on the pitch.

"I hope she can show it in our environment and I am excited to see her and how she relates to the other players in the squad."

  3. 'I wanted Bright to be available'published at 11:22 BST

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman: "I wanted her to be available, yes of course. Before the Euros she wasn't ready and needed to get things sorted. She's still a really good player, I wanted her to be in the squad. But I totally respect and understand the decision she makes for her life."

Did she try and convince Bright to stay? "I don't think it's appropriate to have that conversation. I totally respect it. It must have been really hard to make that decision."

  4. Bright 'has been huge for us'published at 11:21 BST

    England

England manager Sarina Wiegman on Millie Bright's retirement:" At the back of the Euros we had a conversation and competition has started already and Millie told me she was going to retire from international football.

"I thought we had a good conversation. She has been huge for us and for me and the team on and off the pitch. She has been a great personality and leader. I am just really grateful I have been part of her journey."

  6. 'It's great to be back'published at 11:18 BST

    England

England's meeting with Brazil is a repeat of the 2023 Finalissima, which the Lionesses won after a penalty shootout.

Meanwhile, the fixture against Australia represents the first contest between the sides since the Women's World Cup semi-final in 2023 in Sydney, which England triumphed in 3-1.

Speaking about the matches, head coach Sarina Wiegman said: “It’s great to be back and we’re really looking forward to playing in front of our fantastic home support again after such an incredible summer in Switzerland.

"We felt the energy from the stands throughout the tournament and we’re grateful to have our fans with us again in October and November. In Brazil and Australia we’ll be facing two top opponents who will each test us in different ways, which is exactly the kind of challenge we need as we prepare for World Cup qualification starting early next year.

“It’s lovely to celebrate success but this is also the start of a new cycle with new opportunities and objectives. I cannot wait to get everyone together and get started next week.”

Looks a strong squad! Disappointed for Hemp not being there due to the injury but hopefully she’s back soon, always a strong front with her on the wing!

  9. Bronze in first England squad since Euro 2025 winpublished at 11:12 BST

Lucy Bronze is named in the England squad for this month's friendly matches despite only returning from injury on Sunday.

Chelsea right-back Bronze, 33, is deemed fit and sharp enough to be included after recovering from the fractured tibia she played with during Euro 2025.

However, Sarina Wiegman's first Lionesses squad since their triumph at Euro 2025 does not feature several key players who are absent due to injury.

Captain Leah Williamson is not in the squad due to a knee problem, while Chelsea forward Lauren James misses out with an ankle issue.

Neither Williamson nor James have featured this season with both injuries picked up during Euro 2025.

Forward Lauren Hemp is also missing for England having sustained an ankle injury in Manchester City's win over Tottenham on 19 September.

Time to start looking to the next world Cup. That's how it works.. So let's have lots of new names. And a captain who's going to be there. Bright retirement is no surprise she's probably had the heads up that she wasn't going to be involved.

Lucy Bronze makes the England squad despite only returning from injury on Sunday.

Bronze played the Euro 2025 final with a fractured tibia.

There's a first call-up for Arsenal duo Katie Reid and Taylor Hinds. Hinds had previously switched allegiances to Jamaica but never played a competitive match for the Caribbean nation so is eligible for England duty.

Uncapped Aston Villa midfielder Lucia Kendall is also included in the squad.

  17. What are the big calls?published at 10:55 BST

The biggest decision for Sarina Wiegman is how she will replace Leah Williamson and Millie Bright in defence.

Their absences in defence could be a chance for Wiegman to hand Arsenal teenager Katie Reid a first senior call-up.

The 19-year-old has been excellent so far in her breakout season, keeping fellow England defender Lotte Wubben-Moy out of the side in the process.

Wiegman could also give Manchester United captain Maya le Tissier an opportunity at centre-back in these friendlies, despite preferring her at full-back for England.

Everyone talking about Katie Reid but what about Lotte Wubben-Moy? It feels like she's betwixt and between; 26 and unlikely to get ahead of Maya Le Tissier in the pecking order and even MLT can't get in the team ahead of Jess Carter or Esme Morgan.

  19. Which players could be missing?published at 10:50 BST

As well as Bright, Wiegman will be without captain Williamson because of a knee injury, while Chelsea forward Lauren James is out with an ankle issue. Neither Williamson nor James have played this season.

Both of their injuries were sustained at Euro 2025 - alongside Lucy Bronze's fractured tibia - but she was a late substitute in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday so could receive a call-up.

There was a boost for Chelsea defender Niamh Charles, who recovered from an ankle injury to start Sunday's victory and will be hoping to make the squad.

However, Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp has not played since their win over Tottenham on 19 September because of an ankle injury.

City midfielder Grace Clinton was left out of the squad for Sunday's win over Liverpool at Anfield as a precaution with a knock.
