It has never been about him [Lee Carsley], he has got no ego in that respect but what he has done is given a lot of options to Thomas Tuchel coming in.

Since Gareth Southgate departed, Lee Carsley has achieved his number one mission and that was to get England promoted in the Nations League competition.

The plus point is, he has used something like 31 players, he has handed out eight debuts and he has increased the pool size for Thomas Tuchel in terms of options and playing personnel and I think the manner of the victory - he will be thrilled for him, Joleon Lescott and Ashley Cole.

    Great response Rob.

Lee Carsley finishes his stint as England manager with five wins from six.

Only Sam Allardyce has a higher win percentage...

Very few England fans are bothered about the Nations League so why should we care if we've gone up? It's just good to finally see a manager playing players in the right positions, making bold calls, and generally getting the most out of some vey talented players. Tuchel has unexpectedly big shoes to fill.

Thanks Jamey. You can only beat the teams in front of you.

Promotion may have been a bare minimum. But at least it was achieved, right?

It is wonderful we’re celebrating “going up” but we should never have been down in the first place. It seems a little embarrassing to be cheering about getting back to where we should always have been.

New Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will start work this week, boosted by five members of his Sporting backroom staff.

They include 29-year-old assistant head coach Carlos Fernandes and first-team coach Adelio Candido, who is 28, and whose appointment remains subject to a visa.

Darren Fletcher remains as a first-team coach and will be the link between the first team and United's age group teams, while set piece coach Andreas Georgson is also staying on, having joined Erik ten Hag's backroom team in the summer.

As Argentina and Uruguay have World Cup qualifiers in the early hours of the morning UK time on Wednesday, it will be the back end of the week before Amorim has a full squad to work with - so he is probably glad his first game is not until Sunday tea-time at Ipswich.

You can get involved using the usual methods above.

Plus, the FA have said England's outgoing interim boss Lee Carsley will be giving new manager Thomas Tuchel a "very detailed handover".

What's on the handover? What does the next England boss need to know? Get sharing your thoughts.

The obvious next question is - will there be a promotion party?

I'm still trying to get my head round promotion and relegation in international football.

Is this a serious achievement, or more like a massive club dropping down a division and expectedly cruising back up?

Should we be asking England players which grounds they'd love to be playing at in 2027?

"There are some big teams in League A Harry, are you already dreaming about facing France and Italy at Wembley?"

"Sure, but the one I really can't wait for is Spain at the Bernabeu."

  10. Where are England in Nations League table?published at 07:13 Greenwich Mean Time

England finished top of Group B2, and are going up.

The Three Lions needed to match Greece's result to return to the top tier as group winners after a campaign away.

Greece beat Finland 2-0 but, as we've just discussed, England were ruthless at Wembley.

Yes they did and quite convincingly, too.

About 50 minutes in Liam Scales was sent off for a foul on Jude Bellingham in the penalty area, allowing Harry Kane to score England's opener from the spot.

Anthony Gordon then volleyed home before Conor Gallagher added England's third.

Later in the second half, substitutes Jarrod Bowen and Taylor Harwood-Bellis both found the net to give England a crushing 5-0 win.
