Goalkeeper Paul Farman starred as Barrow made it five league games without defeat with a 1-0 win at promotion-chasing Port Vale.

Ben Jackson scored the only goal of the game in the first half at Vale Park.

Darren Moore's wasteful side hit the woodwork on three separate occasions and failed to make the breakthrough as they missed the chance to move up to third in the table.

Jackson, who had already smashed a shot over the bar, broke the deadlock in the 36th minute as he fired through a sea of defenders.

The second-half onslaught began with Farman keeping out substitute Lorent Tolaj's free-kick before the Swiss striker hit the post.

Stopper Farman superbly tipped a Jesse Debrah header over the bar before Jayden Stockley nodded against the inside of the post.

Less than a minute later, Ben Garrity crashed a header against the bar.

With time running out, Farman produced a great double stop to keep out Debrah and seal the points.
