BBC Radio Stoke have been talking to Port Vale boss Darren Moore:

"The boys are disappointed - frustrated, really.

"We could have done better for the goal and allowed the boy to get the ball onto his left foot and Ben Amos is unsighted really - it's a soft goal.

"We came out in the second half, we changed things and it was a spirited fightback but we just couldn't get the all-important goal.

"We have to look at why the first half was so flat, why didn't we get that spark?

"We have to learn and put it behind us because we don't want a first half performance like that on Saturday."

Port Vale only needed a point to move into the top three tonight but slipped to a 1-0 home defeat by Barrow.

It's looking a tight race for that third automatic place with Bradford and Walsall having that gap over the rest.

Crewe against Port Vale and Walsall at home to AFC Wimbledon are two tasty treats on offer this Saturday while it's Colchester against Grimsby on Friday night.

Port Vale defender Connor Hall told BBC Radio Stoke:

"It's a tough one to take - we weren't at at the races in the first half and you look to go into the break 0-0 but we concede a sloppy goal.

"There were so many times where we gave the ball away, we didn't control the game and they get a goal from a corner.

"We're at home and we need to take the game to teams and we didn't do that in the first half - we've had too many nights where the ball hasn't gone in the net and we have to score in that second half there's no doubt.

"We've still got to be positive - we're still in a great position and look to get back to winning ways on Saturday."

The bottom 10 of the League Two table as of 25 March

Carlisle United's 2-2 draw with MK Dons lifts them off the bottom of League Two above Morecambe but they still remain six points from safety.

Barrow's excellent 1-0 victory at Port Vale sees them climb to 16th, while MK Dons move one place up to 17th above Newport on goal difference.

It's a tough ask for both Carlisle and Morecambe to get out of danger but there are still eight games left to pull off an escape.

So, is that a huge chance missed for Port Vale tonight?

They needed a last-minute winner to beat second from bottom Morecambe on Saturday and now they have lost to Barrow.

Their next three games are against promotion-chasers Crewe, Bradford and Walsall.

That kind of feels all very season-defining.

  8. 'There's still a long way to go'published at 21:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 March

    FT: Port Vale 0-1 Barrow

    Adam Yates
Former Vale defender on BBC Radio Stoke

In the second half Vale couldn't do much more but the performance in the first 45 has cost them where they never got going.

Vale never laid a glove on Barrow in that first half.

There's still a long way to go - no-one has got a grip on the league in terms of third place so it's really disappointing tonight.

Tolaj might have had a couple of goals on a different day.

It's not like they didn't have chances but you've got to be ruthless.

  9. 'The season is still alive'published at 21:48 Greenwich Mean Time 25 March

    FT: Carlisle 2-2 MK Dons

    Chris Lumsdon
Former Carlisle midfielder on BBC Radio Cumbria

Great support for the players tonight and they've put in a real shift.

The season is still alive and there is a lot of belief there. Hopefully the players feel that as well.

Hopefully we can still pick up a few more results between now and the end of the season.

It ends all square and Carlisle's two-year wait for consecutive league wins goes on and extends to 96 games.

But it's four points in two games for Mark Hughes' side and they move up one place to 23rd and are six points from safety with eight games remaining.

A fair result in the end and MK Dons move up to 17th, 15 points clear of the drop and 13 points behind the play-off spots.
