Phew. Another afternoon of EFL madness in the books.

Late goals, big goals, calamitous goals, no goals. This afternoon had pretty much everything.

It feels like a good day for Birmingham, without even playing, plus Stockport, Leyton Orient and managerless Bolton in League One, while Cambridge and Burton are showing signs of life at the bottom.

In League Two, all the top sides seemed to wobble in unison, allowing Doncaster to boost their hand and Bradford to show theirs while Carlisle leapfrogged Morecambe at the foot of the EFL with a dramatic win at Fleetwood.

Maybe enjoy a bit of peace and quiet and perhaps reacquaint yourselves with the family tomorrow as there's no EFL action, but we'll be back next week with a host of huge games, not least Burnley v Leeds at the top of the Championship on Monday night and a full programme across League One and Two on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thank you for your company this afternoon, we'll see you soon, enjoy your Saturday evening.

  2. Huge win for Carlisle Unitedpublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

Carlisle United's late win at Fleetwood takes them off the bottom of the table and within five points of safety following Tranmere's draw with Gillingham.

Carlisle are replaced by Morecambe at the foot of the table following their defeat at Colchester.

Accrington Stanley's timely win away at second-placed Crewe Alexandra gives them more breathing room away from the relegation zone.

And Barrow will be feeling a lot better about themselves following their convincing 3-0 win at home to Grimsby which takes them 10 points clear of the dreaded dotted line.

Incredibly, Doncaster and Bradford were the only sides in this morning's top eight to win.

That was a relief for Walsall, who still have a 12-point cushion with a game in hand, despite their humbling at Valley Parade in one of the early kick-offs.

Crewe's surprise defeat at home to Accrington allowed Rovers to go level on points in second by virtue of seeing off Harrogate in a Yorkshire derby.

Bradford's win over the leaders saw the Bantams join the throng of teams in the play-off pack and move within two points of the automatic places themselves.

  4. 'Draw will feel like a win for Cobblers'published at 17:23 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Wycombe 0-0 Northampton

    Marc Webber
    Final Score at Adams Park

That will feel like a win for struggling Northampton, who held on and absorbed multiple Wycombe opportunities to get a draw and deny the home side top spot in League One.

But, don’t forget Northampton had the ball in the net in the first half, but Aaron McGowan’s header was disallowed for a foul on the keeper.

  5. Shrewsbury rock bottom as Burton and Cambridge risepublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

What a basement battle we have raging in League One.

Cambridge United held on to beat Mansfield in the early kick-off and Burton thumped Rotherham 4-2 to join the Us in moving within six points of Northampton, who claimed a useful point at Wycombe.

Free-falling Peterborough were beaten 5-1 at Lincoln.

Shrewsbury drop to the bottom of the pile after a last-ditch defeat against Charlton, with Crawley second bottom after a 2-0 loss at the hands of Stockport.

  6. Frustrated Wycombe fail to take top spotpublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

Wycombe Wanderers miss the chance to go top after a frustrating goalless draw against Northampton Town whose goalkeeper Nik Tzanev came up with some big saves to earn his side a valuable point.

Stockport's win means they move above Barnsley, who conceded in the 92nd minute to lose to Stevenage.

While victory will taste extra sweet for Leyton Orient as they take all three points against Reading and are rewarded by moving a place above them on goal difference.

  7. League Two full-time headlinespublished at 17:09 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

A huge day at both ends of League Two has come to an end, and it has brought some shocks.

None of the top three sides which started the day won, with both first-placed Walsall and second-placed Crewe going down to defeats.

Walsall lost 3-0 at Bradford City whilst Crewe lost 1-0 at home to Accrington Stanley.

MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon ended goalless whilst Barrow comfortably swept aside Grimsby Town 3-0.

Cheltenham beat Salford City 2-1 whilst Colchester United saw off 10-man Morecambe 1-0 at home.

Bottom club Carlisle United picked up a huge three points late on after winning at Fleetwood and Port Vale have dropped outside of the automatic promotion spots after drawing 1-1 at Chesterfield.

They have been replaced by Doncaster Rovers who left it late to beat Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town 1-0.

Charlton scored in the sixth minute of injury time to send Shrewsbury Town bottom of the league.

Exeter City got one back against Blackpool but it was only a consolation in a 3-1 defeat.

Leyton Orient go ahead of Reading courtesy of a 2-0 victory.

Barnsley saw a point slip away with an added time goal from Stevenage's Dan Kemp seeing them take the win with the only goal of the game.

Burton beat Rotherham for a 4-2 thriller at the Pirelli but were bested as the biggest scorers of the day.

That title goes to Lincoln City, who had five goals from five different scorers to beat Peterborough 5-1.

  9. 'Wigan deserved the win as Rovers failed to ask questions'published at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    FT: Wigan 2-0 Bristol Rovers

    Nathan Ellington
Ex-Bristol Rovers striker on BBC Radio Bristol

    Wigan deserved the win.

Even though they scored early on it was pretty even but in the second half Wigan edged it with their second when Bristol Rovers fell asleep.

Rovers were playing like they were 2-0 up. You have to ask questions of the defence and they didn't. If you don't ask questions you don't get answers.

If players are making runs then put it there for them.

They'll look back at this and see the players making the runs but the balls weren't there.

  10. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Wigan 2-0 Bristol Rovers

A first career goal from James Carragher on seven minutes and Jonny Smith's breakaway second 20 minutes from time, courtesy of Nottingham Forest loanee Dale Taylor's sixth assist of the season, secure the points for the Latics, which once again have them looking up the table rather than over their shoulder.

Results elsewhere today have made things rather more urgent for Inigo Calderon's men, however.

  11. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:55 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Wycombe 0-0 Northampton

It wasn't to be for interim boss Sam Grace and Wycombe as they have to settle for a stalemate.

Kevin Nolan's men rode their luck and owed plenty to a string of saves from Nik Tzanev, but did also see an Aaron McGowan goal disallowed themselves and might have snatched it at the death through Tarique Fosu

A useful point in the basement battle for the visitors, but Wycombe miss the chance to go level with League One leaders Birmingham.

  12. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Cheltenham 2-1 Salford City

Full-time and Cheltenham beat Salford City 2-1 with Curtis Tilt's late consolation goal the last action of the match.

Cheltenham hold on for a deserved win which they reached thanks to goals either side of half-time thanks to Tommy Backwell and Jordan Thomas.

Backwell pounced to score the rebound to open the scoring and Thomas' 80th minute header put the game out of the Ammies reach.

Cheltenham climb to 14th whilst Salford drop out of the play-off positions to eighth following Bradford's impressive win over table-topping Walsall at lunchtime.

  13. FULL-TIMEpublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Stockport 2-0 Crawley Town

A comfortable win for Stockport sees Crawley Town rock bottom of the league.

The second-half was a quiet affair but the damage had been done in the first, with Crawley unable to mount any kind of threat.

It means Town are now eight league games without a win and a serious relegation worry.

  14. CLOSE!published at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Wycombe 0-0 Northampton

Late, late chance for the visitors as Max Dyche nods down a cross but sub Tarique Fosu hooks a volley wide of Franco Ravizzoli's goal.

  16. INJURY TIMEpublished at 16:52 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Stockport 2-0 Crawley Town

Three minutes added to the clock but the writing's on the wall.

At this point, the Crawley Town support will be more interested in how things are going down at Charlton.

  17. Postpublished at 16:50 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

It's all Wycombe in stoppage time. Northampton are holding on for dear life.

  18. goal

GOAL: Fleetwood 1-2 Carlislepublished at 16:49 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Sam Lavelle (85 mins)

Huge goal at the bottom of League Two!

Sam Lavelle sees his first header superbly kept out but makes no mistake with his second attempt and gives the visitors a massively important lead with five minutes remaining.

  19. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16:47 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Wycombe 0-0 Northampton

Academy graduate centre back Max Dyche is off the bench for Northampton, replacing Tom Eaves, in more ways than one - he'll operate as a makeshift target-man.

  20. Postpublished at 16:46 Greenwich Mean Time 25 January

    Wycombe 0-0 Northampton

Into the final minute of normal time. The hosts have been pressing but have not managed to find a way past Nik Tzanev in the Northampton goal... yet.

Wycombe have scored so many late goals this season, could they possibly do so again?
