UEFA Champions League
All competitions
Lens have won just one of their five previous meetings with Dutch sides in all competitions (D1 L3), beating Vitesse 4-1 in the 1999-00 UEFA Cup. This is their first ever game against PSV.
Seven of PSV's last 11 away games against French sides in all competitions have been drawn (W2 L2), with this their first such match since a 1-1 draw in Monaco in 2022-23 UEFA Champions League qualifying.
Lens have made an unbeaten start in the UEFA Champions League this season (W1 D1), in what’s their first appearance in the competition since 2002-03. Only once previously have they avoided defeat in their opening three matches in a single edition of the tournament (W1 D2 in 1998-99).
PSV are looking for their first UEFA Champions League win since December 2015 (2-1 v CSKA Moscow), with their run of 16 games without a victory being their longest ever winless streak in the European Cup/Champions League (D7 L9).
Both teams have scored in six of Lens’ seven home games in the UEFA Champions League (11 for, 8 against), although they’ve only lost once in this run and have won each of the last three: 3-1 v Deportivo de La Coruña and 2-1 v Milan in 2002-03 and 2-1 v Arsenal on MD2 this season.
PSV have only kept one clean sheet in their last 14 matches in the UEFA Champions League (0-0 v Rostov in December 2016), with the Dutch side conceding an average of 2.1 goals per game in this run (30 in total).
Four of PSV’s last six goals in the UEFA Champions League have been scored in the final 10 minutes of play (87th, 82nd, 86th and 90th), including both of their goals in the tournament this season. Indeed, their equaliser against Sevilla on MD2 (94:37) was their latest goal in the competition since December 2003 (94:40 v Deportivo de La Coruña).
Only Jude Bellingham (7) has created more chances from open play than PSV’s Johan Bakayoko (6) in the UEFA Champions League this season, with four of those coming in their 2-2 draw against Sevilla on MD2.
Elye Wahi became Lens’ second-youngest UEFA Champions League scorer last time out (20y 274d v Arsenal), and could become only the second player aged 21 or under to score multiple times for the club in a single edition of the tournament (previously John Utaka in 2002-03, two goals).
Noa Lang completed 10 take-ons in PSV’s 2-2 draw with Sevilla on MD2 – of the three instances of a player completing 10+ in a UEFA Champions League game in 2023, two of them have been by the Dutch winger (also 12 v Benfica in February).
