RE: Nick 15:52. Nothing truer ever said. We're not playing France, or Germany, or Spain so why do people want us to play like we're playing them. 2-0. 3 points. I'm happy.

Well Nick, there is one way to guarantee this match will be a memorable one.

Against Latvia in a World Cup qualifying match in 2021, the Lionesses recorded their biggest-ever competitive victory winning 20-0.

    Yep, that's not a typo - 20-0.

Beth Mead, Ellen White, Lauren Hemp and Alessia Russo all scored hat-tricks.

Any chance the men could match it tonight?

England are in a no win scenario. If they score 6, everyone will say it's Latvia so it's easy. If they struggle to break them down and score 1 or 2, they will still get criticism. Games like tonight will never be entertaining and all England can do is play the team in front of them.

  5. Morgan Gibbs-White set to come into tonight's squadpublished at 15:50 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March

When he [Tuchel] was asked about making changes, he said yes and no. They had a day off on Saturday, so Sunday was their first proper training session after the win against Albania, and I think they're going to check on the player's fitness first of all.

Anthony Gordon who withdrew from the squad, would have started if he hadn't returned to Newcastle United because of a hip injury.

Morgan Gibbs-White will come into the squad today, so I don't know if it will be wholesale changes, but he [Tuchel] is impatient because he wants to implement his style of football quickly, but it does naturally take time.

  6. Positive news around Man Utd defender Ayden Heavenpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter at the Etihad Stadium

The last sight of Manchester United defender Ayden Heaven was of the youngster being stretchered off during the victory at Leicester on 16 March after going down in agony after a collision with Patson Daka.

It was a horrible way for the 18-year-old's first Premier League start to come to an end and the immediate fear was his season had come to an end.

That has proved not to be the case.

While sources are suggesting it is a stretch to think he could feature in next Tuesday's trip to Nottingham Forest, it seems to be clear the damage is nowhere near the extent initially feared and Heaven could be back in Ruben Amorim's squad before too long.

There are some classic tunes coming out of the England dressing room this afternoon.I've just heard Africa by Toto followed by Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance with Somebody. I wonder if the England kit men Pat and Neil are in charge of the tunes? I would suggest (for someone of my age) they have great taste.

  14. 'I don't think that we got that excitement on Friday against Albania'published at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March

England v Latvia (Monday, 19:45 GMT)

    Ian Dennis
BBC Radio 5 Live senior football reporter at Wembley

He said that what England was missing was excitement, and I don't think that we got that excitement on Friday against Albania. I think what you'd want is more shots on goal and more crosses in the box, but in international football, the manager wants structure and control because when the tempo did improve a little bit in the second half, all of a sudden, particularly when [Armando] Broja came on, Albania had a couple of sniffs on the counterattack which is not what you want as an international manager.

He wants to retain that control, but he wants the tempo to be quicker because he only described the performance as okay-ish. I think that he would want his team to pass the ball a little sharper and be a bit more intense in their style of play tonight.

I can't remember the last time I was less excited to go to Wembley to watch a game. Maybe it's because it's Monday night against Latvia or maybe because I know the game won't be as good as the Nations League quarter finals yesterday. I just can't see people getting out their seats for a midfield 3 of Rice Henderson and Jones... I've spent the whole day watching videos of the glory days: Bring back Gazza, Becks or Lamps. Don't tell my new boss!

Ethan Nwaneri is set for a full England Under-21s debut against Portugal.

The Arsenal attacker made his Young Lions debut off the bench on his 18th birthday in Friday's 5-3 friendly defeat in France.

He eight goals in 29 games for the Gunners this season and is in line to start in the friendly game at The Hawthorns this evening.

"Yeah, definitely. I think he's showing that he's more than capable." boss Lee Carsley said when asked if Nwaneri could start. "It was important we tried to share the minutes around in this camp.

"I don't think anyone needs to do two 90s (minutes). So yeah, Ethan's got a good chance of starting."

However, skipper Taylor Harwood-Bellis has returned to Southampton for a scan on a thigh problem.

The centre-back came off in the second half of the defeat in Lorient with the severity of the issue unknown.

Carsley said: "Taylor's been sent back to the club, he'll get a scan on his thigh. It seemed OK but we've said in the past we'll never take any chances with the players. As soon as there's an issue they go back to the club."

  18. Semi-automated offside assessmentpublished at 15:20 Greenwich Mean Time 24 March

    Simon Stone
BBC Sport's chief football news reporter

The talk is all about England today but this weekend it will be the FA Cup.

At the three games hosted by Premier League clubs - at Fulham, Brighton and Bournemouth - semi-automated offside technology will be trialled.

After that, Premier League officials will assess whether it might get introduced at some point before the end of the season.

The Premier League has been holding off introducing it until they are sure it works properly.
