1. Guardiola incoming...published at 13:29 British Summer Time 5 April

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is due to speak to the media shortly.

Since City previously played Crystal Palace - and drew - at the Etihad Stadium in December, they have dropped six points, drawing with Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal.

It is a measure of the standards at the top of the Premier League just now that despite this, City still find themselves three points behind leaders Liverpool, with a worse goal difference.

Still, tomorrow should not be a problem.

Guardiola's record at Selhurst Park is six wins and two draws in all competitions. City have not conceded a goal there since 2019.

  2. Football clubs unite to stop tragedy chantingpublished at 13:27 British Summer Time 5 April

Man Utd v Liverpool (Sun, 15:30 BST)

Former Liverpool and Manchester United players Phil Thompson and Wes Brown visited the Lord Derby Academy in Huyton, Merseyside, at the end of March to warn children about the impact of chanting about tragedies suffered by rival clubs.

Their visit followed recent incidents of so-called "tragedy chanting" at games between the two teams.

One man was charged with a public order offence after the teams played in the FA Cup at Old Trafford on 17 March.

Thompson and Brown, representing the clubs' foundations, talked to pupils about the impact the chanting had on the teams, fans and wider communities.

Brown said he had "seen the sadness" in the late Sir Bobby Charlton's eyes when he heard chanting about the Munich disaster in 1958, which Charlton survived but which claimed the lives of 23 other people, including eight players.

Thompson said it is "disappointing" to "waste so much negative energy having a go of each other's clubs".

Manchester United supporter Kim Burdett on Sunday's game against Premier League leaders Liverpool: "I’m not feeling all that optimistic, but then again I wasn’t a couple of weeks ago and we managed to pull off a result [in the FA Cup].

"It’s going to take a big effort from the players on the pitch on Sunday to get anything out of the game. Fingers and toes crossed, we’ll see what happens."

The result only goes to highlight the poor defence of Manchester Utd. It's been an issue since Fergie left. But I can't understand why it's not focused on. Defence wins championships in most sports!

Boehly and co's strategy holed Chelsea below the waterline and Poch's job this season has been to refloat the sinking ship. Feels like he's done a good job of patching those holes so far and the time to judge the direction of the ship is next season, not this one.

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Liverpool supporter Chloe Bloxam added: "We’ve got so many winners on the pitch, so many leaders. We know when we need to go up a gear and the players have the quality on the pitch to do that. We kind of needed Sheffield United to score to wake us up.

"The players reminded me of the United game [in the FA Cup], where they felt like they were better but they just weren’t clinical enough. They weren’t putting their foot on the gas, and it took Sheffield United to cause trouble, us to score an own goal, for us to really awaken. It just shows that Liverpool can go into that second gear when needed and blow a team away. And how important it is to have a full squad."

Former Liverpool winger Boudewijn Zenden says he believes Manchester City have the edge in the title race after watching a "nervous" Reds side squeeze past basement club Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday night.

It took a long-range strike from in-form Alexis Mac Allister 15 minutes from time to break the Blades' rear-guard action after a Connor Bradley own goal cancelled out Darwin Nunez's first-half opener.

Cody Gakpo added a third goal to secure a 3-1 victory, which sent Liverpool back to the top of the table, two points ahead of second-placed Arsenal, with City a point further back.

"You could see there was a sense of nervousness around the stadium," Zenden told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast. "It is so tight at the top that any wrong step could possibly mean that you are going to lose the league so to see that now the Premier League has got three teams up front that are still battling for it, I think that it will go down to the wire.

"You could sense that there is so much to play for and that nervousness you feel that maybe in the end, of course there are still eight games to play, you feel that down the line if it gets longer and longer that maybe City with the experience they have got - they have been there before and done it before - maybe they are a little bit better prepared for these last games."

TonyOnduli: What’s great about Jurgen’s revamped team is even after a season of dreadful injuries we’ve still only lost two games all season and are calm in the face of adversity. What a strike from Mac Allister, what a team for future seasons to come, what a legacy Klopp leaves.

Liverpool supporter Chloe Bloxham, who was at Anfield last night, said: "It doesn't matter how you get over the line as long as you get the three points. It’s much more about those three points than it is about the performance when it comes to a title race in the last couple of games.

"I'm absolutely fine with it being nervy. It’s going to be nervy every game, absolutely every game, because its going to go down to the wire. As long Liverpool pick up the three points I don’t care how they get over the line."

  11. Latest Premier League fixture changespublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 5 April

    All times BST

The Premier League has announced its latest set of fixture changes, for the matches to be played two weeks before the end of the season.

One of the most significant of those changes is Chelsea v Tottenham, now taking place on Thursday 2 May.

Spurs are likely to have a big say on who wins the title as they are still to face Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City before the end of the season.

The new dates mean they will face Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool within seven days of each other; the trip to Anfield coming on the Sunday, just three days after the clash at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere, in what could be a huge game in the battle against relegation, Luton and Everton now meet on Friday 3 May, and Chelsea v West Ham will take place at 14:00 BST on Sunday 5 May.

The matches which have been moved are:

    • Thursday 2 May - Chelsea v Tottenham (19:30)
    • Friday 3 May - Luton v Everton (20:00)
    • Saturday 4 May - Arsenal v AFC Bournemouth (12:30), Man City v Wolves (17:30)
    • Sunday 5 May - Chelsea v West Ham (14:00), Liverpool v Tottenham (16:30)
    • Monday 6 May - Crystal Palace v Man Utd (20:00)

The Premier League has apologised for the delay in announcing the fixtures, citing TFL strikes - which have now been called off - and Champions League scheduling as the reasons for the late announcement.

Erik ten Hag has signed 10 players who have consistently made starts and substitute appearances (alongside two - Garnacho & Mainoo - as academy graduates). He has been backed, it's his team and his tactics. I can't see how ten Hag is blameless for United's troubles over the past two seasons and still needs more time.

Manchester United's defensive organisation in the closing stages of Thursday night's last-gasp defeat at Chelsea has been criticised by former Blues midfielder Boudewijn Zenden.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast that United's players did not seem to be clear about their roles as they failed to pick up Cole Palmer for his winner following a corner in the 11th minute of stoppage time.

"We know it is a game of mistakes and whoever makes less mistakes will win it in the end," said Zenden.

"If you talk about mistakes then it is amazing to see that United in the 100th minute not capable of marking their men in the corner with probably the last kick of the game."

Zenden pointed to Erik ten Hag's five substitutions in the second half, which included a reshuffle in defence after Jonny Evans replaced Raphael Varane at half-time before making way for Willy Kambwala 20 minutes later.

"To me it is clear that some of the United players at that moment were not doing their job," he said about Palmer's winner. "When you come on you have a certain job to do and sometimes with all these changes people forget - some players are in the same position or they don't pick up their men.

"As soon as the corner has been taken you see three or four men from United pointing out that Palmer is free but no-one is with him."

Yes individual errors do happen but this is Ten Hag's team. The slow plodding football he has got United playing is not suited to the Premier League. He hasn't improved the team with any of his signings and I still don't understand what his philosophy is. I wanted him to do well but he has had enough time and absolutely zero progress has been made. Only an FA Cup win will save his job I suspect, but I can't see us winning that.

United's playing in injury time was diabolical. No-one wanted the ball, no-one had a plan how to keep hold of it, to frustrate Chelsea. There was no pitch leadership, no cool heads, nothing. This had been coming for a long time. Wolves and Brentford were warnings. I'm sorry, Eric. This process we cannot trust. We're tired of conceding chance after chance after chance.

Can't believe the stick ETH is getting. The players crumbled within a minute. That's nothing to do with Ten Hag. The sooner fans accept which table United now dine at, the easier results like this are. It's a kick-in-the-teeth result but not a surprising one. Chelsea beat United on every stat (apart from goals conceded). I wonder if Ratcliffe needs to be looking over his shoulder already.
