Wolves host West Ham at Molineux, where the fate of their surprise European challenge is likely to be decided.

Five of their final eight games are at home where, until February, they had only lost twice.

Successive defeats to Manchester United and Brentford threatened to derail a top-seven charge but Gary O’Neil’s side have shown impressive resilience in the face of some crucial injuries.

Matheus Cunha returned, weeks ahead of schedule, after a hamstring problem as a substitute in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Burnley while Hwang Hee-chan has an outside chance of being fit to face the Hammers following his own hamstring injury.

Victory would take Wolves, who sit 10th, above their seventh-placed visitors on goal difference and reignite their hopes of a return to European competition for the first time since 2020.

But I have seen two really good performances in our last two matches and we have looked much more like our old selves.

"I am really pleased with the last two games. Now we need consistency. That is what I want to see between now and the end of the season, and we have got eight games to show it."

On Isak, who has scored 19 goals in all competitions this season and three in his last two league games, Howe said: "Isak's form has given us a massive lift. It's always the way when you have got any attacking player on form, it transfers through the team. He is in a really good place, both mentally and physically. It is great to see the form he is in. The team has given him the platform to show his talent, but I think he can get even better and there is more to come from him."

On Wilson's recovery: "Callum is doing the hard yards. He is running hard. It is an upper limb injury so he can keep fit and when he is ready to come back I think he will be looking good."

More from Newcastle manager Eddie Howe on juggling a squad hit by injuries: "The difficult thing is when you are stretched and lose a couple more, then you become even more stretched. When you get to a tipping point it is very difficult to control that.

"You don't have the flexibility to protect players and we have been in that situation for months. That is where we are currently, especially with our defenders."

    Newcastle United

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said that he "feels" for defender Jamaal Lascelles as he faces up to nine months out with an ACL injury, picked up following a collision with West Ham striker Michail Antonio in their recent 4-3 victory.

"It's big blow for us and Jamaal," said Howe. "He's been excellent this season. Behind the scenes he's been a real leader for our team. I feel for him because he's been in really good shape this year and looked really good.

"He's come together with Antonio and unfortunately ended up with a serious injury. Initially it's always difficult to accept. One minute you're in the team, the next you've got a long period of rehab. He'll have low moments during that long stretch but he's got a good team of people around him and Sven [Botman], who is in a very similar position."

"Tino's was quite obvious when you looked back at the footage," he said. "[It was] strange really as the ball hits his ankle before it hits the floor. Thankfully, it's not as serious as it could have been. He could be back quite quickly.

"Miggy tweaked his knee slightly. Again, it's not a serious injury but enough to keep him out."

Howe added that he expects Lewis Hall to return to training before Saturday's match after being substituted in the midweek draw at home to Everton with "fatigue".

  20. 'Man United's 4-3 repeat is a major worry for Ten Hag'published at 09:06 British Summer Time 5 April

    Chelsea 4-3 Man Utd

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport

There was a hugely concerning familiarity about last night's drama at Stamford Bridge for Manchester United fans.

In November, needing a win to give themselves a decent chance of progressing to the Champions League knock-out stage, United went 2-0 up at FC Copenhagen, then got pegged back following Marcus Rashford's dismissal, before getting themselves ahead again midway through the second half.

As with last night, United appeared comfortable.

As with last night, the home side equalised from almost nothing and United were unable to stop them getting a winner.

On that occasion, the result ended up costing them a European place. Last night's will almost certainly end their chances of qualifying for next season's Champions League.

To happen once was bad enough, for it to occur again - four days after United conceded a very late equaliser at Brentford - is a major worry for manager Erik ten Hag.
