FC København are hosting Galatasaray for a European match for just a second time, beating the Turkish side 1-0 in November 2013 in a UEFA Champions League group stage game.
Galatasaray are unbeaten in their three home European games against Danish teams (P3 W2 D1) but are winless in both trips there, a 1-0 defeat to FC København in 2013 and 1-1 draw with Randers FC in a Europa League qualifier in 2021.
Whoever wins this match will qualify for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. For FC København, it would be just the second time they’ve done so after 2010-11, while it would be the first time for Galatasaray since 2013-14.
FC København have shipped five goals on home soil in the UEFA Champions League this season, the most goals they’ve ever conceded at home in a single campaign. Before letting in five in two games this season (2.5 per game), the Danish side had only conceded nine in 16 home games in the competition (0.6 per game).
Galatasaray have won just one of their last 19 away UEFA Champions League matches (D3 L15), a 3-2 win at Manchester United on MD2 this season. The Turkish side last won two away group matches in a single campaign in 2012-13 under Fatih Terim – indeed, this is the only time they have done so.
Following a 4-3 win over Manchester United on MD4, and a goalless draw at Bayern Munich last time out, FC København are looking to equal their longest unbeaten run within the same UEFA Champions League campaign (previously three games in 2016-17).
Galatasaray have scored 10 goals in the UEFA Champions League so far this season, their joint-most in a single group stage in the competition along with the first round in both 1999-00 and 2000-01.
Galatasaray have conceded at least twice in each of their last six UEFA Champions League games. They’ve only had a run of seven once before (between October 2014 and September 2015), while they’ve never conceded 2+ goals in all six of their group games in a single campaign.
Excluding own goals, no team have had more different goalscorers in the UEFA Champions League so far this season than Galatasaray, with their seven scorers their joint-most in a single group stage in the competition (also 7 in first group phase in 2000-01).
Lukas Lerager has scored in each of his two home UEFA Champions League appearances this season for FC København, with no player ever scoring in three home appearances in a row for any Danish club in Champions League history.
