Summary

  1. Everton for Grealish?published at 13:36 British Summer Time 29 July

At 29 and going into a World Cup year, Jack Grealish cannot afford to sit on the bench next season.

But there are few clubs who could both attract and afford the former Aston Villa captain.

Everton appear to be the most interested party in the midfielder but the Toffees would only entertain a loan deal and City would have to cover a large part of Grealish's wages.

Would a move to Merseyside on a season-long loan be a smart move from Grealish?

  2. 'No turning point for Felix'published at 13:32 British Summer Time 29 July

Decline in value of Joao Felix

In three and a half seasons in (and out) of the Atletico Madrid team he scored 35 goals, as well as 16 assists, in 131 games.

In 2020-21 he was part of the Atleti squad who won their second La Liga title under Simeone.

But he only started 14 league games that season - and netted just three goals after Christmas in any competition.

"It doesn't seem there is any turning point for him," Spanish football journalist Guillem Balague told BBC Sport.

"It drives coaches mad. They see the potential but he'll never fulfil it. It's a mental thing. It's not that he's not bothered - but he's not listening."

Felix would have two loan spells away from the club, first with Chelsea in the final few months of the 2022/23 season, before spending the whole of the following campaign with Barcelona.

We'll be taking a look at Jack Grealish's future next.

  5. The curious case of Joao Felixpublished at 13:21 British Summer Time 29 July

In terms of an initial fee, the £113m Atletico Madrid paid Benfica for a 19-year-old Joao Felix in 2019 is the third highest transfer fee of all time.

But what followed was an underwhelming trip across three different countries, four different clubs and a seemingly unfulfilled promise.

Now he has completed his move to Saudi Arabia, he will team up with Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo at Al-Nassr, but back when he arrived in Madrid, not many would have seen this coming.

  6. 'I'm here to spread joy'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 29 July

Al-Nassr have announced Joao Felix's arrival with a video.

To be honest, his comments in that are even shorter than the statement Chelsea managed.

"I'm here to spread joy. Let's win together," said Felix.

  7. 'Thank you Joao'published at 13:12 British Summer Time 29 July

Chelsea's statement marking Joao Felix's departure is three sentences long.

Son should do what he wants - he's earned that right. If he wants to head to LA then he goes as a legend with our best wishes and it'll be a sad day. Want's to stay? Great - dig in and pass on some of his experience.

Son has been a real warrior for Spurs over many years and should be left to make his own decision, and whatever he decides, he will have the backing of all Spurs fans.

Thomas Frank on Tottenham's transfer plans: "That is something I would like to keep very private. We, of course, are out there in the market and we're aware where we maybe want to strengthen the squad in general.

"I'm happy with the squad and we've already done a top signing in Mohammed Kudus that is coming in and showing us his quality already. We've got a squad where there is a lot of talent in and quality but of course we're looking.

"In general we are constantly talking about transfers, of course. It's the transfer window, we’re in the market, we’re still looking out there."

For me, Sonny absolutely is a Spurs LEGEND and far more valuable to the club if he stays than whatever price tag we could get for him. Would he still be a certain starter? I don't think so, but he is still lethal in front of goal

New Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has wasted no time in reshaping his squad ahead of the upcoming season, securing four signings as part of his initial recruitment:

    • Kevin Danso - Lens - £20.9m
    • Mathys Tel - from Bayern Munich - £29.8m (£34.1m)
    • Kota Takai - from Kawasaki Frontale - £5m
    • Mohammed Kudus - from West Ham - £55m

Frank had also targeted Nottingham Forrest star Morgan Gibbs-White, but negotiations fell through with the midfielder instead signing an extension at Forrest.

"Let's say I am a legend. Why not?" Son Heung-min told TNT Sports, moments after his team lifted the Europa League trophy in May.

The 33-year-old captained Tottenham to their first piece of European silverware in over 40 years, and their first title in nearly two decades when they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final last season.

"Seventeen years - nobody has done it, so let's say with amazing players, [I am] probably a legend of the club.

"This is what I've always dreamed for. Today is the day it happened. I am the happiest man in the world."

In August 2024, he told BBC Sport he could not be considered a legend until he won a trophy with Spurs.

Son, who has won 133 caps for South Korea, joined Spurs in 2015 for a reported £22m after scoring 29 goals in 87 games for Bayer Leverkusen.

Then this year, he came off the bench in the 67th minute against United, to help see out their historic victory on his 454th appearance for the club.

"I felt the pressure. I wanted it so badly. It finally happened and I can sleep easy now," he said.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank has been speaking to the media ahead of Thursday's north London derby against Arsenal at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong.

On the future of Son Heung-min, Frank said: "Right now, Sonny is here and I’m very happy for that. He has trained well. I said in the last press conference that he is showing great character.

"He played the last two friendlies. He is in the squad, he will train today. What I’m focusing on is he is a Tottenham player".

After winning the Europa League last season, captain Son Heung-min joked that he was now a Tottenham "legend."

The South Korea international has spent a decade in north London, making more than 450 appearances across all competitions and scoring a handful of important goals.

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min's future at the club remains unclear.

The forward has just 12 months left on his contract and has reportedly attracted interest from Saudi Arabia and the MLS.

BBC Sport’s senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel reported last month that any exit is likely to be after the Asia trip, with Son's absence likely to risk complications with tour organisers.

The South Korea international is crucial to the commercial appeal of Tottenham's Asia Tour.

After playing Arsenal in Hong Kong on 31 July, they travel to Seoul to face Newcastle United three days later.
