Wrexham's win was hard fought but worth the pain after they retained second place while Birmingham City get their reward in a jump up to third.

Though for Lincoln, it's another not-so-great day at the office and they now find themselves down in ninth and drifting away from a play-off place.

While Reading and Bolton's respective draws keep them in touching distance of the top six, Wycombe's late winner gives them their 10th successive league victory and is capped off with a four-point cushion at the top of League One.

Wigan make the climb up the bottom end of the table after their 2-1 win over Northampton Town, who incidentally get pushed down to 18th as Blackpool also see an ascent up to 16th after their first league win since September.

Meanwhile, it's been another dreary day for Burton Albion as their 1-0 loss to Charlton sees them no closer to an escape from the basement as they fail to capitalise on the chance to catch Shrewsbury Town.

  4. 'It's just cruel'published at 22:04 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

Mansfield manager Nigel Clough to BBC Radio Nottingham:

“Everybody is devastated. It’s not just losing but the manner of it - a fluke goal in the 93rd minute when we worked as hard as we did tonight. We cannot do anything about that. It was just a fluke.

“If someone puts it in the top corner you put your hands up, but to concede a fluke like that - there’s absolutely nothing you can do about it.

“We can’t seem to get a break. It’s just cruel. Absolutely cruel.”

Ireland Under-21 international David Okagbue broke the 80 travelling Ravens fans' hearts inside the Poundland Bescot Stadium this evening with the final kick of the match in the fourth minute of injury time to make it 2-2.

Walsall are now three points behind leaders Port Vale with a game in hand. Bromley were cruelly denied the upset but they should not be too upset with an away point, at a top side, that keeps them clear of the relegation zone.

AFC Wimbledon beat Tranmere 2-0 and occupy the final play-off spot.

Fifth-placed Huddersfield extended their unbeaten run to six matches by winning 2-0 at Leyton Orient, where Callum Marshall scored a last-minute goal to seal the Yorkshire side’s victory.

Meanwhile, Conor Coventry’s late goal gave Charlton a 1-0 win away to bottom side Burton and another late goal, by Sullay Kaikai, earned 10-man Cambridge a point in a 1-1 draw at home to Bolton, Wigan won 2-1 at home to Northampton and Blackpool won 2-0 at Bristol Rovers

    Wrexham 1-0 Lincoln

An own goal keeps Wrexham in second, four points behind Wycombe, with Lincoln in ninth.

While Imps defender Tendayi Darikwa name might be the one on the scoresheet, it's Dragons' captain James McClean's dynamic strike that made it happen and sent his side ahead.

It was a tight contest and Lincoln will be feeling hard done by to come out with nothing but for Wrexham, the win will leave them feeling light on their feet no matter how tough the contest.

    Exeter 0-2 Birmingham

Most League One observers expected a reaction from Birmingham tonight.

    They produced it.

They dominated the first-half but only managed to score once, then in truth were lucky to get the second-half penalty kick to provide the gloss and confirm the three points in Devon.

    Barnsley 2-2 Reading

Another game at Oakwell concludes without a winner and neither side can drift away from one another as they stay glued together on the league table.

Though while a draw seems like a subdued result, the game provided plenty to ponder over - 32 shots with 9 on target and an almost even possession percentage.

Reading forward Sam Smith's poaching ability was on full display as he stole a 2-1 lead in the second-half but his magical moment wasn't to last when Josh Earl came to the home sides aid to earn the Tykes a point.
