I am really surprised the referee has given that. It looked like he may have got some of the ball.

  6. PENALTY GOAL for Birminghampublished at 21:24 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

    Exeter 0-2 Birmingham

Of course it had to be Jay Stansfield back at his old stomping ground.

Stansfield scored on Saturday but Birmingham still lost at Shrewsbury (who were bottom at the time), this penalty strike is more than likely to clinch the three points tonight.

The Exeter players were incensed by the call of handball for the penalty, but it is a second goal Birmingham have deserved, but just struggled to find.

Newbies to the League Bromley are now ahead and could go six points clear of the relegation zone if they can hold on.

Danny Imray's first goal in the EFL goes in from a really tight angle off the underside of the bar to shock the second-placed Saddlers.

    Walsall 1-2 Bromley.

Bromley’s only previous midweek league games this season saw them avoid defeat in both, drawing 2-2 with Chesterfield and winning 1-0 at Doncaster (both in October).

    Exeter 0-1 Birmingham

Birmingham are yet to make a change, but the Grecians make two at once to give a second and third of their bench a run out.

Vinny Harper only came back in tonight so was not expected to play 90 minutes, he is replaced by Amani Richards, and Kamari Doyle is also in for Ryan Woods.

All three men who came into the Exeter side to start tonight, different from the XI that started at Wrexham on Saturday, have now left the field.

    Tendayi Darikwa OG (67 mins)

Exeter haven't offered a lot today and Blues haven't created much in this half either.

Blues you can sense one or two of the players are getting a bit frustrated that they aren't creating a bit more.

  12. goal

GOAL: Barnsley 2-2 Readingpublished at 21:14 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

    Josh Earl (72 mins)

    Wow. What a game!

Reading keeper Joel Castro Pereira punches away the ball but it falls to the feet of a Barnsley player and some sharp passing around the box finally finds Josh Earl.

The defender doesn't fumble a rare chance for goal glory and slots in an equaliser.

  13. RED CARDpublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

Another sending-off to tell you about. Bottom side Burton are still drawing 0-0 at home to Charlton but are down to 10 men - Charlie Webster has been shown the red card for reacting to a challenge from Terry Taylor.

It was a deliberate handball to prevent Alfie May. The colour of the card could have gone either way.

Chris Davies isn't particularly accepting of the decision.

    Sam Smith (66 mins)

My instinct that there would be more goals is proven right and Sam Smith's for a goal is even more sharp.

A corner cross isn't put away first time but Reading's resident poacher puts his quick thinking to good use as he tucks away the rebound.

  16. Postpublished at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

Booking bonanza at St James Park as the referee gives three players a booking, all on separate occasions, in the space of five minutes.

A handball from Ed Francis and a foul by Ryan Woods are the two for Exeter after Blues' Krystian Bielik was penalised for shoving Vinny Harper into the advertising hoardings on the hour mark.

Elsewhere, Huddersfield still lead 1-0 at Leyton Orient and it remains goalless between bottom side Burton and Charlton.

  18. Postpublished at 21:09 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

Barnsley's Adam Phillips threads a ball through to forward Stephen Humphrys but the contact is sloppy and the Reading keeper makes an easy save.

Michael Cheek has his 10th goal of the campaign, his ninth in his last 15 EFL outings to go level with Andy Cook, the Bradford striker, atop the League Two scorers table.

Firing in from six-yards out, a man who notched 21 in the National League last year was never going to miss that.

    Walsall 1-1 Bromley.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 21:05 Greenwich Mean Time 26 November 2024

    Wrexham 0-0 Lincoln

Wrexham's George Dobson sends in a lovely cross towards frontman Ollie Palmer but Lincoln keeper George Wickens hasn't missed a beat tonight and doesn't let this one pass him by either as he makes the save.
