    Portadown v Glenavon (17:30 BST)

Striker Davy McDaid and defender Niall Quinn will form part of Glenavon's interim management team, the club have announced.

The Lurgan Blues parted ways with boss Paddy McLaughlin on Sunday following a poor start to the season that has left them bottom of the table and winless in their first nine games.

Members of McLaughlin's coaching staff, including Colin Coates, have also departed the club following his dismissal.

In a statement on Wednesday, the club confirmed that McDaid and Quinn, along with coaches Tim Lennon and Ryan Prentice, will form the interim management team for their game against rivals Portadown on Saturday at Shamrock Park.

Glenavon chairman Stephen Best added that the board "will choose carefully" when appointing their next manager after inviting applications for the role on Monday.

It is really tight at the bottom, obviously Glenavon have had a bad start. However, if you take them out of it, it is really tight down there and every game counts.

It's a big game, neither will want to get beat.

It is a great chance for them [Carrick Rangers] today.

They have Stephen Baxter at the helm, who has plenty of experience and he has been through good and bad spells.

When you start to get into a rut of losing games, it is very difficult to get out of it.

It is a free hit for Bangor today, no disrespect to them, but they are more than capable of beating anyone at Clandeboye Park.

I have liked Coleraine so far, their recruitment has been excellent.

They will have eyes on the title, but it is really tight up there at the minute.

    BBC Radio Ulster summariser

Leroy Millar and Aaron Donelly are back in the Larne squad today.

They're also still without Paul O'Neill and [Andy] Ryan. These guys are in a great position, but it will be hard for them today as Dungannon look to have turned the corner.

Dungannon Swifts v Larne (15:00 BST)

Two in-form teams meet at a windswept Stangmore Park.

Dungannon Swifts have won their last two after a faltering start to the campaign and manager Rodney McAree makes just the one change to the side which defeated Ballymena United a week ago.

Bobby-Jack McAleese, who scored last weekend, drops out of the squad completely and his place in midfield is taken by Leo Alves.

Larne, whose last game came two weeks ago in a home win against Carrick Rangers, also show just the one change as Jordan McEneff replaces Connor McKendry, who drops to the bench.

Subs: Henderson, Knowles, McBrien, Maguire, Smith, Mitchell, Anderson.

Gary Haveron has worked so hard, he is a man of the town and he is a man for the town.

He loves the club and the results are there, so this is a time in a position of strength to just appoint him, that are my thoughts.

Former Linfield & Ballymena manager on BBC Radio Ulster

The Larne vs Dungannon game is a very intriguing contest.

It was no surprise to me that Dungannon had a slow start, but they are up and running now, there has been a reconfiguration in terms of their focus, and they are strong opponents for Larne today.

  20. Swifts 'want to string results together' - McAreepublished at 14:27 BST 4 October

Dungannon Swifts v Larne: Carrick Rangers v Ballymena United (15:00 BST)

Dungannon Swifts manager Rodney McAree praised his side's togetherness as they picked up a 2-0 win against Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.

A fine strike from Bobby-Jack McAleese from outside the box and an own goal from Kym Nelson helped the Swifts to the win, despite Junior missing a penalty.

And McAree was delighted with the clean sheet and for his side to record back-to-back league wins for the first time this season.

"I thought we were very good in the first half, we used the ball well and I was very happy. Second half, we could have been better, but we were disciplined, kept a clean sheet and got the three points," he said.

"We missed a penalty, but we came together, and we saw the game out," he added.

"It is a hell of a lot better than the early stages of the season. It is a start; we want to string results together and lift the mood. It is nice to hear a little bit of celebrating in the changing room."

Ballymena boss Jim Ervin was left to rue some poor defending as his side suffered a disappointing home defeat, following last week's frustrating 1-1 draw against Crusaders.

"When you look at the manner of the two goals, they are very soft. We gifted them two goals," he said.

"We put plenty of balls in the box and we said at half-time make sure you get bodies in there, but we didn't get enough in there to challenge for first and second balls.

"When we do training every week boys are very happy to challenge for balls in the box but come Saturday, they hang out, so it is frustrating.

"I was looking a reaction to last Saturday and there were too many that didn't give it. We got plenty of plaudits when we beat Linfield here 10 days ago but that is two poor performances, so you have to take the criticism.
