Scott Pittman fired Livingston ahead against Dunfermline
Livingston marked their return to the Scottish Championship with a comfortable win that consigned Dunfermline Athletic to a fourth straight defeat this season.
After six seasons in the top-flight, Davie Martindale's side were relegated after finishing bottom of the Premiership, but their first goal back in the second tier came via a player who was with them when they were last in this division.
Scott Pittman, the midfielder who will celebrate 10 years with the club this season, slammed the hosts ahead in the second half following an intense period of pressure on the Dunfermline backline.
It sparked a stronger second half from the Lions, who showed their dominance and controlled the game.
A second goal appeared likely and it came from a familiar source in Stephen Kelly. The midfielder was played in unselfishly by Lewis Smith after wonderful work down the left-hand side.
Dunfermline threatened in the first half, with Aaron Comrie fluffing his lines with a fantastic opportunity, but failed to compete after the interval and squandered their big chance when David Wotherspoon fired a spot kick against the crossbar after Ryan McGowan's challenge on Lewis McCann.
