1. Scotland squad for qualifiers namedpublished at 11:30 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

While we wait for Wiegman to appear, have a read of Scotland's qualifier squad.

Uncapped Sarah Ewens is included in the Scotland squad for next month's opening European Championship qualifiers away to Serbia and at home to Slovakia.

Rangers forward Ewens, 31, has been capped at Under-17 and Under-19 level.

Celtic forward Amy Gallacher and West Ham defender Kirsty Smith are recalled by head coach Pedro Martinez Losa for the games on 5 and 9 April.

Kirsty Hanson, Brogan Hay, Jenny Smith and Martha Thomas, who were all in the Pinatar Cup squad, are not included.

In one of her last media conferences, Lionesses' boss Sarina Wiegman said she was "worried" about player's schedules.

She went on to discuss the impact of heavy schedules on recent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries suffered by many players.

Early this morning it was revealed the FA and NewCo will be among those to update the government with its plans to grow the women's game.

The first meeting follows a major review of the sport by former England midfielder Karen Carney.

One of the topics that will be included is "raising standards for mental and physical wellbeing". ACL injury research is one of the areas many have called for advancements in.

Wiegman is likely to be asked about the news today, which is taking place imminently, and what she would like to see implemented.

  3. Captain Williamson returnspublished at 11:19 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

England v Sweden (Fri, 5 April)

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport

It was expected, but it's still great news to see Euro 2022-winning captain Leah Williamson back in the England squad.

We thought she would make a return in February, having been called up by Sarina Wiegman, only to pull out through injury.

She has not played for England since April 2023 - their 2-0 defeat by Australia in the build-up to the Women's World Cup.

Williamson has started the last three games for Arsenal, playing the full 90 minutes in the two most recent matches, and is fully fit following her recovery from an ACL injury.

Her replacement in February - Manchester United's Millie Turner - clearly did enough to keep her place too, though it's at the expense of club team-mate Maya Le Tissier.

Overall, there are not many surprises with Millie Bright's absence expected seeing as she hasn't played at all this year.

  4. Park and Clinton included but no Parris for qualifierspublished at 11:15 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

England manager Sarina Wiegman has named for squad for the Euros qualifiers and midfielders Jess Park and Grace Clinton are both included after impressive form in the Women's Super League.

However, there is no Nikita Parris despite scoring eight goals in the league this season. Aggie Beever-Jones also is not included.

Chelsea defender Millie Bright misses out through injury.

    Full squad

Goalkeepers: Mary Earps, Hannah Hampton, Khiara Keating

Defenders: Lucy Bronze, Jess Carter, Niamh Charles, Alex Greenwood, Esme Morgan, Millie Turner, Leah Williamson, Lotte Wubben-Moy

Midfielders: Grace Clinton, Fran Kirby, Jess Park, Georgie Stanway, Ella Toone, Keira Walsh.

Forwards: Rachel Daly, Lauren Hemp, Lauren James, Chloe Kelly, Beth Mead, Alessia Russo

Sarina Wiegman will be announcing her squad for next month's 2025 European Championship qualifiers shortly. But what games will the team be playing and when?

England, who are the defending Euros champions, were drawn in a qualifier group with France, Sweden and the Republic of Ireland.

The dates for those fixtures are:

    • England v Sweden – Friday 5 April
    • Republic of Ireland v England – Tuesday 9 April
    • England v France – Friday 31 May
    • France v England – Tuesday 4 June
    • England v Republic of Ireland – Friday 12 July
    • Sweden v England – Tuesday 16 July
  7. Will Parris and Beever-Jones earn Lionesses' call-ups?published at 11:05 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

England v Sweden (Fri, 5 April)

    Emma Sanders
    BBC Sport

Sarina Wiegman will name her latest England squad for Euro 2025 qualifiers against Sweden and the Republic of Ireland at 11.15 GMT.

She will speak to media at St George's Park afterwards, not just to react to her squad, but to look ahead to those crucial fixtures.

England have been drawn in the toughest qualifying group on paper and must finish inside the top two to avoid entering the play-offs.

When Wiegman named her squad last month, there was a return for Euro 2022 captain Leah Williamson but she had to withdraw shortly afterwards through injury. Will she make it this time?

World Cup captain Millie Bright has still not played this year so is not expected to be included but Jess Park and Grace Clinton, who scored on her debut in February, have surely done enough to keep their places.

The big question is whether Manchester United top-scorer Nikita Parris will earn a recall.

She controversially missed out last time and I spoke to her about her England hopes last week. You can read that here.

Chelsea forward Aggie Beever-Jones jumped up from the under-23s squad last month and she scored again this weekend. Will she get in?

Connor Roberts has an unusual lucky charm he hopes will inspire Wales to qualify for Euro 2024 - his moustache.

The Leeds United right-back, on loan from Burnley, will be sporting a bit of facial hair which has coincided with a fine run of form for his club and country.

"It's just a little bit of a joke to be honest," Roberts explained.

"My wife last year, she was like 'Why don't you grow it?' so I did and then we went on an unbeaten run at Burnley.

"I've done the same thing this year and keep asking her if I should shave it off but she likes it so I'm leaving it there.

"I think it has played about 25 Championship games and never lost, so I hope that continues in the Championship and maybe it gives us a bit of luck on Tuesday."

  10. Final countdown...published at 10:49 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

Just under nine hours until Wales and Poland get going in tonight's Euro 2024 play-off final.

The Cardiff City stadium is unsurprisingly sold out for this encounter and it's a ground that holds special memories for Wales fans.

Cast your mind back to June 2022 when Wales lined up against Ukraine in a World Cup play-off final.

Gareth Bale's free-kick was the difference on that day, sealing a 1-0 win and sending Wales to Qatar and their first World Cup since 1958.

A sea of red was firmly behind the players on that occasion and the bucket hats should be out in full force again tonight.

I get more nervous now. It is quite unbelievable. I can't control it, I can only watch him and it is horrendous.

I get extremely nervous every single time he steps onto a football pitch. I say to him go and enjoy it and treat every game as if it is your last because you are in a position where it is not a job, you are doing something you love and you're very fortunate.

A bit more from this BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast when former Wales assistant Kit Symons and his partner Izabella Rybka, who hails from Poland, spoke with Rachel Burden.

When asked about whether the Poland team still revolves around 35-year-old striker Robert Lewandowski, Rybka said: "The team, I think it's very much in transition at the moment as well. So slowly the older and more experienced players are stepping down.

"We still have Lewandowski, but there's a few young players coming through that like [Jakub] Kiwior from Arsenal and a couple of boys playing in Italy so I think we’re getting stronger in different areas too.

"I must be 100% honest, to me it's a win-win situation, because I've been so close to Kit over the last couple of tournaments and to the whole Welsh team, I really feel like emotionally attached to the boys and and so looks like there's there's no losers for me tonight."

Re: Rob Phillips (09:27). Not sure you can claim playing golf in Madrid during the prime years of Bale’s career compares favourably to Bobby Charlton. In terms of crowd connection Bale is nowhere near George Best. Both those players won the Ballon d’Or. Bale never in the top three.

Rybka is Polish and Symons, although from Basingstoke, had three spells as Wales' assistant manager, including working under current boss Robert Page at the 2022 World Cup, so it could be a torn household tonight!

When asked how they will be watching the game, Symons said: "Well, we're in separate rooms at the moment and there'll be no fraternising with the enemy during the course of the day.

"Tonight will be opposite ends of the sofa. I think with the dog in the middle… the dog speaks Polish as well. Fluent in both languages."

  15. Vinicius Jr is committed to Real Madridpublished at 10:16 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

Vinicius Jr signed for Real Madrid as an 18-year-old from Flamengo.

The deal was agreed when he was 16-years-old and worth £38.7m.

In July 2018, when Vinicius turned 18, the transfer went through.

The fee surpassed the initial £36m paid by Manchester United to Monaco for striker Anthony Martial, who was 19 when he became the world's most expensive teenager in a September 2015 deal.

In October 2023, the Brazilian forward extended his Real Madrid contract until 2027.

At the time of the announcement, he said: "Hello Madrid fans, I am very happy to renew my contract. It is a dream for me.

"I hope I can continue here for many years, scoring many goals and winning many titles. Thank you very much for the love. Hala Madrid!"

Last week, Real filed a complaint against referee Juan Martinez Munuera, who took charge of their win at Osasuna, for omitting alleged racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr from his match report.

Osasuna denied there were any racist chants from their fans.

Vinicius scored twice as Real extended their lead at the top of La Liga.

Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr said: "It never crossed my mind [to leave Spain] because if I leave Spain I give the racists exactly what they want.

"I will stay because that way the racists can continue to see my face more and more.

"I'm a bold player, I play for Real Madrid and we win a lot of titles and that doesn't sit well with a lot of people.

"I just want to play football but it's hard to move forward; I feel less and less like playing."

  18. 'I feel less and less like playing football'published at 09:57 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

Brazil winger Vinicius Jr says he feels "less and less" like playing football because of the repeated racist abuse he has suffered.

Last season there were 10 such incidents against the 23-year-old reported to prosecutors by La Liga.

During an emotional news conference on Monday, Vinicius added he would not be forced to leave Real Madrid and Spain and let racism win.

However, he said he was finding it "hard to move forward" from the abuse.

  19. 'Page has a chance at history'published at 09:51 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

    Wales v Poland (19:45 GMT)

    Robbie Savage
Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Rob Page has done a remarkable job. He could create history to become the first manager to lead Wales to two major tournaments. It is there for them, they have a good chance.

The difference with this Wales squad is everyone is playing [club football]. There are goals on the bench and I thought Robert Page got the tactics spot on the other night with the three guys up front who have pace. I think it will be much of the same tonight.

  20. Early team newspublished at 09:44 Greenwich Mean Time 26 March

    Wales v Poland (19:45 GMT)

As was the case for the victory over Finland, Robert Page's toughest selection dilemma will be in attack, where the competition for places is fierce.

He sprung something of a surprise by starting Southampton's David Brooks against the Finns and leaving in-form Ipswich Town striker Kieffer Moore, his only recognised natural centre-forward, on the bench - but was instantly vindicated by the former's goal in the third minute.

Leeds United's Daniel James made a big impact as a substitute and scored Wales' fourth but, while he is pushing hard for a recall, Fulham's Harry Wilson and Tottenham's Brennan Johnson impressed from the start.

Regular captain Aaron Ramsey is expected to be on the bench once more having only made one brief substitute appearance for Cardiff City since a calf strain, so Spurs defender Ben Davies is set to wear the armband again.

Ipswich winger Wes Burns and Swansea City centre-back Ben Cabango withdrew from the squad with hamstring and calf issues respectively before the Finland game.

Niall Huggins, Joe Morrell and Tom Bradshaw were already missing with injury, while Luton Town captain Tom Lockyer is not included as he continues his recovery from the cardiac arrest he suffered during a Premier League match in December.

Robert Lewandowski will captain Poland, who could be without Aston Villa right-back Matty Cash, who went off injured during Thursday's semi-final win over Estonia.
