1. The forgotten gamepublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 12 April

Man City v Luton (Sat, 15:00 BST)

    BBC Sport

In between two blockbuster Champions League quarter-finals with Real Madrid, a Premier League home game with Luton almost becomes the forgotten game for Manchester City.

I am quite sure City boss Pep Guardiola will not see it like that, with three precious points in the Premier League title race up for grabs.

But it is a match to get out of the way before Carlo Ancelotti, Jude Bellingham and company arrive for Wednesday's game.

Major interest in Guardiola's news conference today surrounds the fitness of Kyle Walker and whether influential midfielder Rodri will get the rest he said he needed after Tuesday's thrilling 3-3 draw in the Spanish capital.

I don’t think we can draw too much from that Atalanta game last night. Klopp simply underestimated our opponent and possibly was a little naive in his team selection for a quarter-final. I’ve no doubt order will be restored on Sunday.

Think last night shows that Liverpool's focus is the league. My prediction is they will win every game in the Premier League now and take the title.

Michael: What is this talk of a 'rare blemish' from Phil McNulty? The performance last night has been indicative of recent form. Only difference was Atalanta were ruthlessly efficient. That result has been on the cards the last few months.

You may have heard of the 'tunnel club' at Manchester City, where the players make their way to the pitch through a glass 'tunnel', with fans enjoying hospitality on either side.

Well, AC Milan are giving fans the chance to get even closer to the action.

The Italian giants have launched the 'Club 1899 Front Row Experience', which allows fans to be seated next to the tunnel and between the dugouts - taking inspiration from the NBA's courtside seating plan.

Is that the only bad performance from Liverpool last night on the run in to the end of the season? I earnestly hope so. Will Jurgen Klopp put out a weakened team for the return leg, since winning the Europa League entitles you to a place in the Champions League, a prize Liverpool are probably going to get anyway due to their current league position. Why risk key players for the remaining games in the Premier League in a reckless (and probably futile) bid to rescue the tie?

Think West Ham have a mountain to climb. Leverkusen eventually weaved their way through the Hammer's well coached defence, but West Ham will need to come out and score goals for the home tie. I think this will play to Leverkusen's advantage - I expect Leverkusen to win the next game too.

  14. Panel backs decision to disallow Wolves' levellerpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 12 April

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

The Premier League’s independent Key Match Incidents Panel has backed the decision to disallow Wolves’ leveller against West Ham.

The panel, which reviews decisions in the top flight, voted 5-0 in favour of the call to rule out Max Kilman’s stoppage-time header.

Video assistant referee (VAR) Tim Robinson recommended a review of the goal, with official Tony Harrington ruling Tawanda Chirewa was in West Ham goalkeeper Lucasz Fabianski's line of vision.

It denied Wolves’ an equaliser as they slipped to a 2-1 defeat on Saturday and left boss Gary O’Neil fuming.

He labelled the decision “possibly the worst decision I have ever seen” and was charged by the Football Association on Thursday.

The charge – for improper and/or threatening behaviour - relates to O’Neil’s post-match conduct with the boss admitting he could not control his emotions when trying to speak to referee Harrington.

"I wasn't able to control my emotion well enough to get an explanation," O'Neil said after the game. "The referee said he would rather not discuss it given how I was acting."

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery speaking to TNT Sports after his 1,000th game as a manager: "Difficult match, very tough match. A tight result and a tight match.

"We created chances, we conceded some chances. We took advantage today and we knew before the match it was going to be difficult.

"Now again we have to be ready there to play 90 minutes and even extra-time and a penalty shootout, because we know now every match that we are playing is difficult.

"It's very important to try to control set-pieces in games offensively and defensively. We have to try to be stronger in our structure because they [Lille] were sometimes threatening us more than we wanted.

"It's a good result because we won today. We know it is going to be difficult there but we have to try to get again our position on the pitch, understanding how we play today."

It wasn't all doom-and-gloom for English clubs last night, Aston Villa take a one-goal lead into the second leg after they beat Lille 2-1 in the Europa Conference League.

Villa striker Ollie Watkins told TNT Sports: "Going into each game I feel confident. I have a belief that I'm going to score and the team are going to play well.

"We have a game plan and we stick to it no matter what. It was important that we won the game and then go into the second leg a goal up. It feels like a lot of hard work has been put in.

"Little bit disappointing to have conceded at the end, gives them [Lille] a little bit of belief going into the second leg.

"We could have been a bit more clinical in the final third. We've had a lot of opportunities and 2-1 is a bit disappointing, I think it should have been three or four."

"It's nice to hear your name being sung by the fans. I just try to repay them by scoring goals but when I'm not doing that I'm always working hard.

"That's the number one thing when I go on the pitch to make sure nobody can question my mentality and my work rate and then the goals will come so just enjoy."
