Greenock Morton rose to sixth in the Scottish Championship after defeating 10-man Airdrieonians at home.

The hosts opened the scoring through Zak Delaney on 41 minutes. The defender turned in a floated cross from veteran attacker Niall McGinn at the back.

The visitors' hopes of sparking a comeback were significantly diminished when midfielder Rhys Armstrong picked up two bookings for late tackles within eight minutes of the restart.

Cammy Ballantyne added Morton's second goal in the 88th minute to put his former club to the sword, firing in from the edge of the area through a sea of bodies to secure three points for the Cappielow side.
