There are three other matches tonight to take you through in League One in a typically busy Tuesday night schedule.

Crawley Town host Charlton Athletic in only their second-ever league meeting - the first being the Red Devils' 2-1 away win at The Valley in December.

Since then, Nathan Jones' Addicks have embarked on an outstanding run in the league, winning 11 and losing two of 18 matches, which has propelled them into fifth. A win tonight would further highlight their promotion credentials.

Blackpool face second-bottom Cambridge United at Bloomfield Road in a huge game for the U's survival hopes.

If the visitors are going to have any chance of staying up, then they will feel they'll have to take all three points on offer at the mid-table Seasiders - although that will prove to be difficult with Blackpool drawing more home league games (11) than any other side in England's top four divisions.

Finally, Mansfield Town take the trip to Devon to face Exeter City with the Grecians still potentially another three victories away from ensuring they will remain in the third tier next season.

The Stags have failed to score at all in each of their past four midweek matches in League One, whilst Exeter have only lost two of their past 11 matches at St James' Park against newly promoted opposition.

Wrexham will go back into the automatic promotion spots in League One if they at least hold Reading to a draw tonight

Phil Parkinson's men will be aiming for more than one point tonight, however, as they are currently enjoying a four-game winning streak away from home, their longest such run on the road in the EFL since August 2003.

They are aiming to do a first league double over the Royals, who sit five points outside of the play-off places, since the 1993-94 season.

Reading, who are unbeaten in their past eight in League One, still have dreams of making it to a play-off Wembley final in May, and despite August's 3-0 loss in north Wales they have an excellent recent record against tonight's opponents - winning six of their past eight in the league, in what on paper looks like an intriguing clash.

These are exciting times for Colchester United and their supporters.

After four years of struggle and last season's final day escape from the drop they find themselves on the cusp of the League Two play-off race.

This time last season the U's were two points off the relegation zone but what a difference a year makes.

Danny Cowley's side are on an 11-game unbeaten run, have won their past three matches and haven't lost at home since 4 January - that all leaves them only four points behind the top seven.

At the start of December Port Vale were top of League Two, three points clear of second-placed Walsall and nine ahead of eighth, but an indifferent spell suddenly has them looking over their shoulders at the chasing pack, including Colchester.

But for all that, Vale are still only four points behind the top three, are unbeaten in 11, and have three home games to follow this evening.

This has all the ingredients of a pivotal night for both sides.

This is the battle of the two teams moving in different directions in the race for League One promotion - and it could be a dress rehearsal for a play-off clash next month.

Notts County's hopes of automatic promotion have taken hit after hit in the last couple of weeks, with only one victory in their past six matches for Stuart Maynard's side - and that was at strugglers Tranmere Rovers.

On the other hand, Grimsby are speeding towards the play-offs with an eight-match unbeaten run, which has contained five wins - including a victory at leaders Walsall at the weekend. They are only outside the play-offs on goal difference.

Add to that, they have made Blundell Park a fortress. They are unbeaten in their past seven home league games (W4 D3); not since May 2006 have they gone eight without defeat within a single season at home in the top four tiers.

The good news for County is 13-goal man David McGoldrick is fit again, having been out with a hamstring injury since the start of February. He starts on the bench tonight.

There is potential for a lot of movement at the top of League Two this evening, with AFC Wimbledon (4th), Notts County (5th) and Port Vale (6th) in action.

Wimbledon will move into the automatic promotion places with a victory over Cheltenham Town (14th), but they could possibly find themselves in sixth if their nearest promotion rivals both win and they lose.

Port Vale visit Colchester United (9th)and Notts County go to Grimsby Town (8th), the outcomes of which offer a myriad of possibilities to how the standings will look at the close of play.

Salford City (11th) host Chesterfield (15th) in a mid-table encounter, while Accrington Stanley (21st) have the chance to move further away from the bottom two when they take on visitors Newport County (17th), who are ten points clear of the drop zone.

Bolton Wanderers travel to the south west to take on Bristol Rovers tonight as they aim to continue their terrific run of form under head coach Steven Schumacher.

The Trotters have won five of their past six matches in League One, drawing the other, in a run which has taken them into the play-off spots. Another three points tonight would move them above Stockport County.

At the weekend, Rovers moved six points away from the relegation places by beating Bolton's play-off rivals Huddersfield Town, with Wanderers reciprocating the favour by beating the Gas' fellow relegation battler, Burton Albion, 2-1.

Ominously for the hosts, Wanderers have beaten the Gas in each of their past four trips to the Memorial Ground, scoring at least twice in all four visits.

Runaway League One leaders Birmingham City take on Stevenage in the two clubs first ever Football League meeting tonight, with Blues having the opportunity of going 14 points clear of second-placed Wycombe Wanderers at the top of the table.

The two sides are set to meet again in the league in 11 days time, with tonight's match originally scheduled for November but having being postponed owing to international call-ups.

Blues have won all six of their midweek home games in League One this season without conceding a single goal.

The visitors arrive at St Andrew's in good form of their own, however, having won four of their past six away league games - including both of their previous two.

Stevenage last played at Birmingham in 1997 and the hosts, managed then by Trevor Francis, advanced to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 2-0 win.

Birmingham City top League One and have the chance to increase their lead with a win over Stevenage.

However, that depends on what Wrexham (3rd) do at Reading (8th). Phil Parkinson's men are 11 points behind the Blues, but if they avoid defeat they will move into the automatic promotion places, replacing Wycombe Wanderers, their opponents on Saturday.

Charlton Athletic (5th) and Bolton Wanderers (6th) have the opportunity to bolster their play-off positions with games at Crawley Town (22nd) and Bristol Rovers (20th) respectively. Both have the opportunity to leapfrog fourth-placed Stockport County in the table.

Cambridge United (23rd) visit Blackpool (11th) and will be hoping, along with Crawley, to claw back some ground on Bristol Rovers, who sit just outside the relegation zone.

Mansfield Town (16th) travel to Exeter City (18th) with both clubs looking to add more distance to the bottom four.
