For Ekitike to get a second yellow card for that (taking his shirt off) is just sheer stupidity, and he'll now miss the league game against Crystal Palace.

He's been such an important player for Liverpool so far this season, what a start to his Liverpool career, important goal this evening, but that's not great for Arne Slot if he's sitting out the game at the weekend.

    Liverpool 2-1 Southampton

He was obviously caught in the moment of scoring a late potential winner, but both yellows could definitely have been avoided.

On Hugo Ekitike's second yellow for removing his shirt:

It's absolutely ridiculous. Everybody knows the rules by now. Listen I'm all for emotion and passion and getting caught up in the moment, but that wasn't really it.

It's a routine goal, the ball comes across to him, a simple finish. I just don't know what's gone through his head here to take off his shirt and hold it up to the crowd as well. No need to do that.

    Hugo Ekitike (85 mins)

  13. 'Lincoln pushed Chelsea all the way'published at 21:42 BST

    FT: Lincoln 1-2 Chelsea

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live at Sincil Bank

Lincoln City can count themselves unlucky. They were sensational in the first half and were deservedly in the lead at half time, but then it was a poor two minutes.

A top drawer strike from George got Chelsea level and then weak defending and Buonanotte slid Chelsea into the lead.

Lincoln huffed and puffed and pushed Chelsea all the way, but it's the Premier League side who go through.
