Oli Shaw struck in the 90th minute to give Hamilton Accies victory in a pulsating Lanarkshire derby and become the first player to reach 10 Championship goals this season.
Hamilton nudge up to seventh thanks to Shaw's late intervention and it was the former Hibs and Kilmarnock striker who got the ball rolling, firing in the opener from a Stuart McKinstry pass.
Airdrieonians responded with an Adam Frizzell free-kick diverted onto the head of Chris Mochrie, who left Charlie Albinson rooted to the spot.
Connor Smith then set up McKinstry to blast home on 38 minutes but the bottom-of-the-table visitors hit back again before the break, Gavin Gallagher finding the net from just outside the penalty area.
Shaw had the last say when his low effort found the corner to break Airdrie hearts.
