Barrow have reached the third round of the EFL Cup for the first time in almost 60 years
League Two Barrow knocked Championship side Derby County out of the Carabao Cup 3-2 on penalties after a goalless draw at Holker Street.
Goalkeeper Paul Farman was the hero as Barrow reached the third round for the first time since 1967-68.
James Collins and Kayden Jackson missed their penalties for Derby, before Farman saved from Craig Forsyth to seal the upset.
It marks a successful week for Barrow after Saturday's 4-0 league demolition of Port Vale, while Derby's wait for their first away win of the season goes on.
Despite being two divisions below them, Barrow were more than a match for their second-tier opponents in the first half.
Striker Gerard Garner forced a low save from Jacob Zetterstrom with a neat swivel and volley.
But the visitors made a triple change at the break and carried more of a threat.
Substitutes Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Kayden Jackson both kept Farman busy with shots from distance.
Barrow came close to scoring a winner five minutes from time with substitute Kian Spence hitting the crossbar from a free-kick.
Spence had his penalty saved in the shootout, but successful spot-kicks from Ben Jackson, Robbie Gotts and David Worrall were enough for Barrow to cause one of the shocks of the round.
The draw for round three, when the remaining Premier League sides enter the competition, takes place on Wednesday.
