Oh my! Aston Villa give the ball away immediately but get very, very fortunate as Lille's Hakon Arnar Haraldsson drags his shot wide.

The big news out of the London Stadium tonight is Jarrod Bowen starts.

That was vital given Lucas Paqueta is suspended for West Ham.

Rezza: I'm glad Martinez got a yellow. Not the first time he has wasted time on purpose. It's about time he got punished.

It's a fair point, although with so many games I genuinely have no idea how the Premier League and English football could help out sides like Villa in Europe.

After scrapping FA Cup replays is the next step getting rid of the League Cup? The French Football Federation did it...

The problem with the Premier League is Villa just played Arsenal, whereas Lille were given the weekend off to prepare for this game. The Premier League need to start helping and supporting our European representatives.

As for both managers getting booked, your guess is as good as mine. I didn't spot anything on my TV monitor.

    Words maybe?

Just going back to Tom's comments on Emiliano Martinez. The referee was frustrated with the Villa keeper taking an age to take a goal kick.

Martinez was standing right over the ball, I think he was waiting for his defenders to get into some space.

He wasn't happy about the booking, but the ref did seem to signal that this was the last of a series of offences.

Another late Villa chance as a long throw drops to Douglas Luiz who flashes a shot over.

Ollie Watkins had fouled a defender in the build up anyway.

Since when did they start booking players for time wasting with the ball at their feet?! Emi Martinez got done by the ref then.

Aston Villa are going sideways. They're lacking a spark.

Collectively, as a league, we have the strongest bunch of teams. However, that doesn't equate to us dominating European football as a forgone conclusion. Other leagues only need 1 team to be better, and that's proven to be the case this year.

Better from Villa, even though it was offside Matty Cash didn't get the first touch right.

Matty Cash has to score as he's slipped in by Morgan Rogers, but the right-back can't beat the keeper.

Oh wait, Cash was offside so it wouldn't have counted. Much better from Villa though.
