Lincoln made it two wins out of three in League One thanks to a victory over struggling Plymouth at the LNER Stadium.
Tom Bayliss opened the scoring early on before a second-half brace from James Collins put the Imps in a commanding position.
Quickfire goals from Owen Oseni and Xavier Amaechi brought Plymouth back into the contest and set up a grandstand finish.
But the Pilgrims, who had Brendan Wiredu sent off, have now lost all three of their league matches on the back of suffering relegation from the Championship last season.
Lincoln took the lead in the sixth minute, with Bayliss' left-footed shot from outside the box finding the bottom right corner.
The hosts came close to doubling their advantage midway through the first half, but Collins' close-range header from Tendayi Darikwa's cross was well saved by Luca Ashby-Hammond.
Amaechi's curling attempt went wide as Plymouth pushed for an equaliser after the break.
Their task was made even harder, though, just before the hour mark, when Collins slotted home the rebound after Ashby-Hammond had pushed away Rob Street's header.
The game appeared to be all over in the 65th minute after Collins sent Ashby-Hammond the wrong way from the penalty spot following a handball in the area by Wiredu.
But Amaechi set up substitute Oseni to score in the 78th minute and then netted himself two minutes later to bring Plymouth back to within one goal.
Plymouth's efforts to snatch a point were hampered when Wiredu was shown a second yellow card for simulation, and Lincoln held on to clinch all three points.
