Port Vale moved level on points with Bradford in the League Two automatic promotion places with a 2-0 win at Vale Park.

Vale struck twice in the first half to record their first league victory on a Tuesday night since March 2022.

It was Bradford's third loss in five games and they remain second only on goal difference.

Swiss striker Lorent Tolaj opened their account after 11 minutes with a curling finish into the top corner that gave goalkeeper Sam Walker no chance.

Port Vale remained on the front foot, pinning Bradford in their own half, and grabbed a second goal when Mitch Clark popped up to convert Jack Shorrock's cross from close range.

Bradford, backed by over 2,400 away fans, showed more urgency at the start of the second half, but Calum Kavanagh's shot was straight at Ben Amos.

Their best chance came from Brad Halliday's angled shot that Aden Baldwin turned past the near post.

Clark brought down Kavanagh for a Bradford penalty late on but Amos pushed away Richard Smallwood's spot-kick.
