Carlisle made it three straight wins with a 2-0 victory at home to Aldershot to stay third in the National League.

The visitors felt they should have had a penalty when Ryan Hill's header looped over Carlisle goalkeeper Gabe Breeze and bounced off the crossbar. The ball fell to Kwame Thomas whose strike was blocked resulting in strong handball appeals, but nothing was given.

Carlisle took the lead early in the second half when Regan Linney drove into the area and fired home.

The Cumbrians doubled their advantage in the 69th minute when, following a corner, Bevis Mugabi was given too much space to fire the ball into the bottom corner.

Aldershot failed to score for the first time this season.
