Ha that’s brilliant I can’t tell you how many Arsenal fans I know who have seen your table and genuinely lost the plot as they’ve been kicked off the top spot🤣

All three newly promoted sides now know who they will face in the opening round of fixtures next season.

Two of those three have landed home games, with Sunderland hosting West Ham United and Leeds United taking on Everton.

Burnley begin on the road with a trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Matchday one has often been a reality check for clubs finding their feet in the top flight. Throughout the entirety of the Premier League era, promoted teams have collectively won just 17 times from 92 matches (excluding three occasions on which they have faced each other) – a success rate of only 18.5%.

They have also conceded nearly twice as many goals as they have scored.

Which of Sunderland, Leeds or Burnley are most likely to buck that trend in 2025-26?

Record of newly promoted clubs in the opening round:

    • Games played - 92
    • Wins - 17
    • Draws - 19
    • Defeats - 56
    • Goals for - 95
    • Goals against - 179
    • Win percentage - 18.5%

Oh no you don't! I'm finally back on the football daily live and you lot immediately sink to your old ways of trying to distract me, this time with petitions to rename West Ham and questions about alphabetical rules regarding acronyms.

Well not today! We've got to get back to Premier League fixture reaction...

Surely AFC is an acronym, so not the full name? Association Football Club? Athletic Football Club?… Both are still after Arsenal, alphabetically, if we’re being pedantic?

    Phil

Doesn't the 'A' stand for 'Association' though? In which case they should come after Arsenal and before Aston Villa?

  7. What are Premier League fixture scheduling rules?published at 12:51 British Summer Time

    Premier League

There are three key home and away rules which the fixture generator must abide by.

    • In any period of five matches, a club must play either three times at home and twice away, or vice versa.
    • A club cannot start or end the season with two home or two away matches.
    • A club cannot play at home twice or away twice for the fixtures which take place on or around Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

A perfect use of my time on the BBC daily football live's busiest day of the summer.

What is the real reason behind AFC Bournemouth by the way? Is it genuinely so they're top of alphabetically ordered lists?

Is there an advantage? If so I might change my name to Aaron Joe Rindl.
