  2. Manchester City's key fixturespublished at 12:12 British Summer Time

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will have no doubt marked these fixtures on his calendar as he looks to lead his side to another Premier League title.

The first Manchester derby takes place on 13 September and just a week later his side travel to London to take on Arsenal.

City face champions Liverpool for the first time when they welcome them to the Etihad Stadium at the beginning of November.

The season rounds off with a repeat of the 2021-22 final day with Aston Villa visiting Guardiola's side. Will the finale be just as dramatic this time around?

    • Manchester United (h) - 13 September
    • Arsenal (a) - 20 September
    • Liverpool (h) - 8 November
    • Manchester United (a) - 17 January
    • Liverpool (a) - 7 February
    • Arsenal (h) - 18 April
    • Aston Villa (h) - 24 May

Manchester City will hope for an improvement from the last season when they begin the 2025-26 Premier League campaign with a trip to Wolves on 16 August.

It will be the first time in five years that Pep Guardiola's side will not be heading into the opening day as the defending champions, following a third-placed finish last term.

City's first home game of the season will be against Tottenham on 23 August while the first Manchester derby is not too far away either, as Manchester United visit the Etihad Stadium on 13 September.

A week later, they will make the trip to London to take on Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.

As a reminder, City are still waiting to learn the outcome of the hearing into its 115 charges of alleged Premier League financial rule breaches.

Hi Andrew, re 11.13 perhaps there's less traffic to MCFC's page because you haven't mentioned them yet. I know we had a poor season, but we weren't relegated were we?!

Re Jamie in Leyton comments at 11.23. You say that if Man Utd can get 8-10points you’ll be happy. Is that across the whole season??!!

    Jim, Nottingham

Jamie in Leyton I don’t agree. As a fellow United fan I feel nothing but dread at the inevitable stuttering start to another campaign. You can buy as many attacking players as you like, but if they don’t have a supply line to feed a defence splitting pass, or pinpoint a cross into the box, where’s the optimism coming from? We are still fragile in all positions and unless a few rabbits are pulled from the magic bargain basement hat, or dare we dip into the pool of talented youth available, last years great escape could become a 1974 reality!

  8. Spurs almost always play away on opening weekendpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time

We have looked at clubs who have been drawn most at home during the opening weekend of the Premier League season.

But who are the 'unluckiest' in terms of games away on matchday one?

Nobody has put in the miles quite like Tottenham when it comes to that. Relief then for Thomas Frank that his first Premier League fixture in charge of the club is at home to newly promoted Burnley.

Spurs have started on the road 24 times in their previous 33 Premier League campaigns – that’s a remarkable 72.7% for those of you that prefer percentages. Only three sides come close to that figure since the Premier League began in 1992.

Opening day fixtures away in Premier League:

    • Tottenham - 24
    • Aston Villa - 21
    • Liverpool - 21
    • Manchester City - 21
    • West Ham - 15
  9. A special December awaits Frankpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time

December could be a special month for Thomas Frank as Tottenham face his former club Brentford not once but twice in the space of 24 days.

Spurs will host the Bees on 6 December before the reverse fixture in Brentford on 30 December in the thick of a busy festive schedule for both sides.

Frank joined Brentford in 2018 and spent seven years in charge of the club, guiding them from the Championship to the Premier League in 2021.

The Dane became Tottenham's fourth permanent manager since June 2021 when he replaced Ange Postecoglou earlier this month.

The trip to the Gtech Community Stadium that he called home for many years will be the final game of 2025 for Frank's Spurs - that is if he is still in charge of the club at that time.

  12. Tottenham's start under Frankpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur start the 2025-26 season with their sixth different permanent manager in nine years.

Thomas Frank has been tasked with leading the side after Ange Postecoglou was sacked earlier this month, despite leading the club to their first trophy in 17 years.

Frank will be keen to get off to a good start but it won't be easy with four away trips in the opening seven games, the first of which being Manchester City.

    • Burnley (h)
    • Manchester City (a)
    • Bournemouth (h)
    • West Ham (a)
    • Brighton (a)
    • Wolves (h)
    • Leeds (a)

Wolves' awful start last season cost Gary O'Neil his job when he was sacked in December and replaced by Vitor Pereira.

They lost seven of their opening eight games and did not win until beating Southampton - their 11h game - in early November.

According to Opta's Power Rating, their opening 10 fixtures last year were deemed to be the hardest.

This time Pereira's side have - again, according to Opta - the easiest start to the season with a rating of 91.2.

They only play two of last season's top five in their first 10 games, the opening day visit of Manchester City and a trip to Newcastle a few weeks later.

Home games against newly promoted Leeds and Burnley and a trip to play-off winners Sunderland also come before the end of October so Wolves will see it as an opportunity to get points on the board early and avoid another rescue job.

BBC Sport’s Ask Me Anything team have been answering your Premier League fixture-related questions. Here is one on why there are no games scheduled for the traditional slot on Boxing Day.

As of current, match week 18 fixtures are set for Saturday, 27 December and none have been pencilled in for the traditional Boxing Day, 26 December.

However, the Premier League have stated that matches are available for movement to Boxing Day for live broadcast selection by Sky Sports or TNT.

Broadcast selections for December are set to be announced on Wednesday, 15 October.

As a United fan it could be really easy to be pessimistic looking at the fixtures but I'm choosing to be optimistic. We were the better team against Arsenal at the end of the season and didn't get the result we deserve, we should get results against Fulham and Burnley. We were the better team against Chelsea too and we beat City, all when we were supposedly not very good. I want to leave the negativity of last season behind and look at the opportunities ahead. We get off to a good start. That could be a real marker put down. If we can get 8-10 points that's a good start.

  19. Can Leeds repeat 2010 heroics against Man Utd?published at 11:18 British Summer Time

    Leeds United

Leeds United will begin their life back in the Premier League with a game against Everton at home on Monday, 18 August.

Daniel Farke's side finished top of the Championship last season with 100 points to end a two-year stay in the second division.

Leeds will then face 2024-25 runners-up Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on 23 August before welcoming Newcastle United to Elland Road the following week.

Farke's side will take on Manchester United at home on 3 January - exactly 16 years on from their famous FA Cup victory over the Red Devils. It remains Leeds' last win over United.

Despite being 43 places lower in the league than their fierce rivals, Jermaine Beckford's winner gave the then League One Leeds the 1-0 win over United at Old Trafford on 3 January, 2010 in one of the biggest upsets the competition has seen.

United had never before lost in the third round of the FA Cup or been knocked out of it by a lower-division side during Sir Alex Ferguson's reign as their manager.

Will it be another memorable result for the Whites come January 2026? Or will United take revenge 16 years on?

We've seen a lot of traffic to our fixtures pages today. So far, Leeds United are the fourth most visited club fixtures page on BBC Sport.

Only Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal are ahead of The Whites.

Newly promoted Sunderland also catch the eye inside the top 10, and in case you were wondering... they're behind Newcastle.
