  3. 'Sporting merit is rendered meaningless' - Palace statementpublished at 12:18 British Summer Time

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have issued a statement after their appeal to be reinstated in the Europa League was unsuccessful yesterday.

The club says "sporting merit is rendered meaningless" by the verdict and claims that "It appears that certain clubs, organisations and individuals have a unique privilege and power".

The statement continues: "Multi-club structures hide behind the charade of a “blind trust” while clubs such as ours, who have no connection to another club whatsoever, are prevented from playing in the same competition.

"To compound the injustice, clubs that appear to have huge informal arrangements with each other are also allowed to participate and even possibly play against each other.

"While we respect the CAS tribunal members, the process is designed to severely restrict and, in our case, make it almost impossible to receive a fair hearing.

"The denial of all disclosure requests to obtain correspondence between the relevant parties, the refusal to allow witness testimony from those involved, and the general lack of formality and respect for law mean decisions cannot be properly challenged, leading to pre-determined outcomes.

"Uefa’s decision has wider implications for the governance of the sport. A combination of poorly conceived regulations and their unequal application means our brilliant fans will be deprived of the chance to watch this team compete in the Europa League for the first time in our history.

"This should be a turning point for football."

  4. Moyes to further add to squadpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time

    Everton

Jack Grealish would become Everton's sixth signing of the summer. A reason to be excited?

    • Charly Alcaraz - from Flamengo - £12.6m (£15.2m)
    • Thierno Barry - from Villarreal - £27m
    • Mark Travers - from Bournemouth - Undisclosed
    • Adam Aznou - from Bayern Munich - Undisclosed
    • Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - from Chelsea - £24m (£28m)

Jack Grealish's signature is a real coup for David Moyes, but will he be more effective on the left or in a central role for Everton?

Moyes commonly employed a 4-2-3-1 formation in the Premier League after returning to Goodison Park last season, doing so 11 times in 19 matches and only really deviating when a back three was used instead.

Grealish has predominantly played a left-sided role during his Premier League career, spending 80% of his 5,698 Premier League playing minutes on the left wing at Manchester City. In the top flight at Aston Villa he played on the left 64% of the time, and 20% at number 10.

Iliman Ndiaye played 2,350 minutes on the left wing last season and finished as the club’s top scorer, while Dwight McNeil, plagued by injury in 2024-25, has also been a key performer in that role.

Should Grealish start on the left it may mean Ndiaye, McNeil and summer signing Carlos Alcaraz competing for the number 10 berth - or one playing out of position until Everton recruit a natural right winger.

How should Everton use Grealish? Thumbs up for on the left, thumbs down for as a number 10.

  7. Will Grealish rediscover spark at Everton?published at 11:47 British Summer Time

The 2022-23 campaign - Manchester City's treble-winning season - was Jack Grealish's standout year in a Manchester City shirt over the past five season, in terms of appearances and starts.

But since then his opportunities have been increasingly limited.

His 16 starts in all competitions last term was his fewest in a campaign since he was 20 years old, and his least productive season in terms of chances created and dribbling success since returning to the Premier League in 2019.

Will we see the best of him at Everton?

PSG have shared their squad for tomorrow's Super Cup showdown with Tottenham.

It confirms that goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has been left out, increasing expectations that he is on his way out of the Parc des Prince before his contract expires next summer.

  11. Can Grealish become Everton's main man?published at 11:26 British Summer Time

Jack Grealish has grown accustomed to sitting on the bench in recent times, so his first task once his Everton move is confirmed is to get himself physically ready to play much more football than he has over the past two seasons.

Everton were rejuvenated following the appointment of Moyes in January, climbing up the table to finish 13th, but have struggled to build on that momentum with significant recruitment this summer.

Grealish will be a marquee signing as the club count down to their first season at their magnificent new Hill Dickinson Stadium.

England boss Thomas Tuchel has shown with his selections of players such as Marcus Rashford and Kyle Walker that he is not afraid to pick those that are out of favour at their clubs - and that should provide Grealish with hope that the England door has not been fully closed in the lead-up to the World Cup.

With Jack Grealish and Savinho potentially both heading for the exit, Manchester City may be tempted to add reinforcements before the end of the window.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting, external that City are considering a move for Real Madrid's Brazil forward Rodrygo, who is valued at £87m.

Romano reported yesterday that Pep Guardiola is a big fan of the 24-year-old, and Real Madrid will allow the player to leave if their valuation of around €100m is met.

  15. Palace could sell Guehipublished at 11:01 British Summer Time

    Marc GuehiImage source, Getty Images

Will anyone be tempted to make a bid for Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi following chairman Steve Parish's comments over the weekend?

Parish says the club are prepared to sell Guehi this summer to avoid losing him on a free at the end of his contract next year.

The Eagles rejected offers for defender Guehi from Newcastle United in January - the last of which was worth £65m - in the hope the defender would sign a new deal in south London.

But the England international has now entered the final 12 months of his deal at Selhurst Park, and appears no closer to extending his contract.

Guehi is said to be open to remaining with the club until 2026, at which point he can leave on a free transfer - but Parish says the club would reluctantly prefer to cash in on Guehi this summer.

"We'd have to do that, of course," said Parish.

"For players of that calibre to leave on a free, it's a problem for us unfortunately.

"We'll just have to see what happens. But, you know, it needs a new contract or a conclusion of some kind."

Unsurprisingly, Gianluigi Donnarumma isn't short of suitors with his time at PSG seemingly coming to an end.

  20. Donnarumma set for PSG exit?published at 10:38 British Summer Time

Despite playing a huge role in PSG winning their first Champions League, goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma seems to be on his way out of the Parc des Prince.

PSG have completed the signing of Lille stopper Lucas Chevalier ahead of tomorrow's Super Cup - with Italy's Donnarumma left out of that squad.

Most importantly, Donnarumma's contract expires next summer.
