Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca speaking to TNT Sports:

"Tricky game because everyone expected us to win but you have to be serious, professional and the most important thing is they showed how serious and professional they are.

"Very impressed especially because we are trying to change players every game. It works well. We have good players and we want them to get minutes. Some of them playing in the conference, some in the Premier League but all of them want to play every game."

Impressed most? "How professional and how serious we have been tonight. Tonight they showed how serious they are.

"We are in the right direction and now the most important thing is to continue. We have one more game before international break and we can rest some of them over the break.

"I would've liked to play with all these attacking boys. But you need defensive balance."

DCG: Well, as a United fan I’ve not had much to celebrate and I’m sure there will be further disappointment to come, but it's nice to see some good results coming, at last.

Ruud van Nistelrooy looks like a manger when you see him on the sideline.

He speaks well, he is nice and calm and he goes about his business really well.

I'm pretty sure he will have the bug back to being a manager, going back to an assistant it must be quite frustrating.

  5. 'Disappointed, but not too down'published at 22:33 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November

    FT: Hearts 0-2 Heidenheim

Hearts midfielder Malachi Boateng tells TNT Sports: "A tough game against good opposition. Just disappointed. But not too down, we will go again.

"We started well. Did well for the first 45 minutes, but second half we started a bit slow.

"The counter-attack they posed in the second half was really good.

"You are going to get punished when you don't defend properly. Ultimately, we are not disappointed with the performance but the result was not what we planned."

Richard: If anything shows the task for Amorim has, it's United struggling to beat a small Greek team while a Chelsea B team score eight goals.

  8. Van Nistelrooy has 'so much experience'published at 22:28 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November

    Manchester United

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana speaking to TNT Sports about whether he would like interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy to stay at the club in some capacity: "100%. He is a very good guy and a very good coach.

"He has so much experience and he has done amazing since he has been here.

"We've had him for a few days as a head coach and the players are happy but it's not something we can decide.

"The club made a decision and we have to accept because they have the final decision."

  9. 'Disappointed in Hojlund'published at 22:24 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November

There was a little spell after Manchester United scored that PAOK looked a little dangerous but it was well controlled for the most part.

I was a little disappointed in Rasmus Hojlund. I think he will improve and get better once he is coached by a coach that believes in him. I'm not saying Ruud [van Nistelrooy] doesn't believe in him.

Looking at the game around the 65-to-70 minute mark, I thought to myself why have United fallen back and giving PAOK all the space to play.

But the goal from Diallo come at the right time, it does feel like there was a different feel, a different energy and a bit more freedom.

There is still a lack of quality in the final third, but eventually they kept going and Diallo got the goal.

It's almost as if you can start to enjoy watching Manchester United again.

  11. 'Big period at the club'published at 22:20 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November

    FT: Man Utd 2-0 PAOK

    Manchester United

Manchester United interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, speaking to TNT Sports: "It was a pretty poor first half if I'm being nice. The second half way was better. That was clear."

On Amad Diallo: "He made a difference today, because of his goals but he was very sharp. Well done to him, good game. Positionally we weren't good in the first half. We were much better at that in the second half.

"He has been incredible in training, he always trains well and is asking me to do more."

On Rasmus Hojlund: "It didn't happen enough for him. In the second half we were better in positions but some of the crosses didn't come for him.

"I said to the lads before the game that it was a year ago since the last European win at Old Trafford. We couldn't believe. It was time to turn it around, build and change. It's a big period at the club."

On one final game in charge on Sunday: "For me it was important to get results. I can only be happy with the performance that the players put in.

"I enjoy it but Sunday is another one and I'm so focused on doing that so I'm not thinking of what is next."

On whether Ruud van Nistelrooy will stay at Man Utd under Ruben Amorim...

When you come into a new environment you have to get used to the players and staff.

They will have their own ideas, but the key is having your own ideas. You need a few people with you to make sure that message gets across quickly and that it's a consistent message.

Tosin Adarabioyo speaking to TNT Sports:

"Amazing game from the boys and we topped it off with a clean sheet.

"Concentration is key to make sure we have the clean sheet at the end of the game and we managed to do so.

"I've been thinking I needed a goal soon so very happy to get one today.

"Never take your foot off the gas. We just kept going.

"I didn't [know fans were chanting 'we want 10']. Didn't mange 10 but a great result.

"Set out for the clean sheet and we managed to get that. We haven't had one for a while."

Ruud van Nistelrooy has used his time well to address the players.

It was clear Ruben Amorim was coming in, but he has said, "I have four games with you guys and we need to fix those things".

He has done a great job.

Manchester United goalscorer Amad Diallo to TNT Sports: "It's been a long time since we won in Europe. Today we showed why we are one of the best teams. It was important to win today.

"It is important to score every time. This season I have been unlucky so I am happy to score two today. But the most important thing was to win.

"I like to celebrate with the fans and make people happy."

On winning the ball back for his second goal: "It came from work we did in the training. we have to press the opposing team."

On interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy: "Since he has arrived at Manchester United he has been very important for everyone."

  18. 'That one is on me'published at 22:06 Greenwich Mean Time 7 November

    FT: Hearts 0-2 Heidenheim

Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland, speaking to TNT Sports: "They are a good opposition, a good level and it was a good challenge for us. We created enough chances for myself and that one is on me. It's disappointing.

"The first half was pretty gung-ho at times. They kept possession and made it difficult. We were OK for 15 minutes in the second half but they finished strong."

On adapting to a new style under manager Neil Critchley: "It will take time to adapt. You need certain levels, mentally as well, to get used to it.

"Everyone needs to be on the same wave length."

Hearts will be very disappointed because they put a lot into this game and possibly deserved a little bit more.

But you cant take away from the quality of this German side. When they were under the cosh, they kept playing away and stepped it up in the second half.
