Wolves are due to open contract talks with Jorgen Strand Larsen after rejecting Newcastle's bids in the transfer window.

Offers of £50m and £55m for the striker were turned down before the Magpies signed Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart and Yoane Wissa from Brentford.

Norway international Strand Larson only signed for Wolves permanently for £23m in the summer after joining on loan from Celta Vigo last year.

But Wolves are prepared to offer him improved terms having rebuffed the strong interest from Newcastle, who had made him one of their top targets.

He scored 14 goals in 30 league starts last season as Wolves finished 16th and has netted twice this term, in the 3-2 EFL Cup win over West Ham.

The 25-year-old missed last week's 3-2 Premier League defeat by Everton with a minor Achilles injury, Wolves having lost their opening three top-flight games.

Wolves executive chairman Jeff Shi confirmed the club always planned to keep the forward and expects him to move on from the window.

He said: "[We] never considered selling him in the window. He is a very good boy, very honest and also very generous."

Tuchel’s era is still finding its rhythm, and with a mix of youth, experience, and tactical experimentation, these qualifiers could be pivotal.

Do we even need a goalie against Andorra? Could do with an extra attacker anyway to break down their low block. Just play rush goalies like in school.

England defender Dan Burn: "I think the first camp it was amazing to be there. But I feel the more camps I go on now, I feel more confident in your ability to play at this level.

"It is sort of the unknown when you come here, until you play a game, you don't know if you can do it. But now that I have done it, I feel like I should be here and deserve a place."

  7. 'Serbia will be an intimidating atmosphere'published at 12:15 British Summer Time

England defender Dan Burn on facing Serbia and their set pieces: "At the moment, the focus is purely on Andorra, and we will look at Serbia when that's done.

"But from what I have heard, Serbia will be an intimidating atmosphere. I think now with set pieces, it has become a vital part of the game. Everyone now seems to have a set piece coach, and it is those little percentages that might be the difference between winning and losing.

"It is something we are looking to improve on."

  9. 'Anderson is a top player'published at 12:11 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

England defender Dan Burn on Elliot Anderson: "Elliot is a top player, we were really gutted to lose him from Newcastle. His physicality for a player of his size, the way he can keep people away from the ball and get up the pitch, is a big strength.

"He is always wanting the ball and so calm when he gets it. He has an eye for passes that you need against Andorra. Really happy for Elliot, I know he had a great Euros in the summer and he's a great lad on top of that."

Dan Burn is developing from a Geordie treasure to a national treasure. What a late career he is having!

    Daniel, Burnside

Dan Burn comes across as a really good person. His comments about Isak in particular show a guy who I’d like to have my back in any situation, never mind a football one. Hope he does well - even in an England shirt!

England defender Dan Burn on working with Anthony Barry: "He takes a lot of the coaching and the intensity he works at and you feed off that as well. He has brought that to the camp, and it has been a very good camp training-wise and very competitive. Baz is a top guy and probably one of the best coaches in this country as well and very happy to learn from him."

  12. 'It is about competing to nail down the place'published at 12:06 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

England defender Dan Burn on competition within training: "We are not only competing to make the World Cup with two important qualifiers, but also with each other.

"There's been players in and out of different camps, but now it is about competing with players in my position to nail down the place.

"There is sort of a lot of depth and there are big players in my position and I want to be the one to play all the games."

England defender Dan Burn on seeing Marc Guehi as direct competition: "The way the gaffer has divided up, yes.

"Obviously, Marc is a top player and very close to move to Liverpool as well. I feel like it keeps us pushing, and I feel like that's what the gaffer wants in possession and the patterns he wants us to get further up the pitch, and it suits that.

"Yeah, right at this moment, I'd probably agree that he is the direct competition."

Rooney saying we shouldn't judge Tuchel on qualifiers feels absurd because they're competitive matches. Just because they're against minnows doesn't mean that he shouldn't be criticised. He talks about having little time, yet wants to play attractive football, which doesn't make sense because that takes time to play good football.

  15. 'I also feel the older I am getting, I am still getting better'published at 12:00 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

England defender Dan Burn on feeling confident: "I have been playing well for a long time now, and that has built a lot of confidence - and being successful last season by winning the League Cup and qualifying for the Champions League - so I feel in a really good place. I also feel the older I am getting, I am still getting better.

"It's an exciting season now that I am 33 and getting a chance to play Champions League again, and the possibility of making the World Cup squad motivates me to keep pushing myself."

  16. 'A lot of learning from the last time we played Andorra'published at 11:58 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

    Dan BurnImage source, Getty Images

England defender Dan Burn: "I try to go in with that mentality that I am leaving absolutely everything out there and not have any regrets. I am just trying to do everything that the manager has asked.

"There was a lot of learning from the last time we played Andorra, maybe tactical things we didn't get right and even from the mentality view - where a lot of the lads are used to playing in these games where you are on the ball constantly and expected to dominate and I am not really used to that with the teams that I have played for in the past.

"I feel like the top teams, the mentality doesn't change."

  17. 'Brazil are full of top players themselves'published at 11:57 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

England defender Dan Burn on playing against the likes of Brazil next summer: "That's the thing about World Cup qualifiers, sometimes you don't always play these big teams, and it is about having that same mentality no matter what you're doing.

"Bruno (Guimares) is a top player, and Brazil are full of top players themselves. It is a joy to watch when you're behind that. If I have the ball, he is always there wanting it, and I can give it to him. I heard he had a great game last night."

A easy group for England. They should concentrate on just qualifying. All this chat of “ Bring it home !” - it’s not been home for almost 60 years, so the English media and roundabout painters need to calm down.

  19. 'I think we have had a really good week'published at 11:54 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

    Dan BurnImage source, Getty Images

England defender Dan Burn on working with Thomas Tuchel: "The amount of tactical work. I have worked with Eddie Howe for three years now, and he is relentless with the way he works and leaving no stone unturned.

"When we are going, I know exactly what I am expected to do. And nine out of 10, if we do what we are asked to do, we tend to win the game.

"Same with the manager, we probably don't have enough time that we get with managers at clubs. I think we have had a really good week, and we needed this week to know and expect what the gaffer wants from us, and hopefully, to put that into practice in the game tomorrow."

  20. 'I have nothing but good wishes for Isak'published at 11:52 British Summer Time

England v Andorra (Sat, 17:00 BST)

    England

    Dan BurnImage source, Getty Images

England defender Dan Burn on Alexander Isak's departure from Newcastle United: "I am glad it is done. We wanted the transfer window closed to have a bit of clarity on it. I have been in football long enough to understand that for a player, the careers are short and they have got things they want to achieve.

"Alex is a mate and it is a tough situation because you want him to be around and helping the team, but also understand for him what he needs to do personally. I have nothing but good wishes for Alex.

"No animosity. As a Newcastle fan, we are very protective of our club and city and we want players to be there who want to play for Newcastle and you don't want them to naively think that there is anyone else to go apart from Newcastle. So I understand why our fans are frustrated.

"I wish Alex all the best apart from when we play Liverpool, obviously."
