  1. Bye for nowpublished at 18:04 British Summer Time 18 May

That's all from us on the final day of the regular Scottish Premiership season.

Ten-man Hearts beat Kilmarnock 1-0, but the main focus was on the battle to avoid an 11th-place finish.

Dundee's win at McDiarmid Park preserves their top-flight status and it is Ross County who will take on Livingston in the play-off final after their draw against Motherwell.

The first leg of that tie is this Thursday before the return leg a week tomorrow.

    Until then...

  2. Valakari bemoans lack of qualitypublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 18 May

    FT: St Johnstone 0-2 Dundee

St Johnstone manager Simo Valakari tells BBC Scotland: "The quality was not there. That's how it has been and now we need to change that, make it better to be successful. We need to raise the levels and it comes through the hard work.

"From the start, we are the club who came down from the Premiership. We should be a favourite but it's up to us to be this favourite.

"Now it's even more pressure on us. You want to bounce back and it requires a different type of mentality."

  4. 'It's up to the board' - Burkepublished at 17:48 British Summer Time 18 May

    FT: Kilmarnock 0-1 Hearts

Kilmarnock caretaker manager Chris Burke tells BBC Scotland: "It felt good. The players have been excellent, they made me feel comfortable. The experience was great for me and Craig Clark (assistant) as well.

"Just disappointed we concede that goal at that end. I'll have to digest that as time goes on and then reflect on the game.

"There's been a lot of success in the past four seasons. We need to try and maintain that. There will be bumps in the road.

"It's up to the board what they decide and what they're looking for, the profile for the manager. They have a great bunch of players staying on for the next manager.

"He's got a good group, a good core, and that will help the next manager hugely."

  5. Docherty's 'enormous pride' at Dundeepublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 18 May

    FT: St Johnstone 0-2 Dundee

Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells BBC Scotland: "We were never losing that game. We needed to get that result. Enormous pride in the players but also I think we showed our strengths as a football club.

"You saw a real strength, a real mentality, a real resilience about the squad. Wee Lyall Cameron to score the two goals, it's very fitting for Lyall. No surprise, but delighted for him. Our last three games, Lyall's scored four goals.

"Lyall's character's never been in question. His quality is outstanding. Lyall's going to have a fantastic career. Him amongst others really answered up.

"I don't want to be a manager of a team that's sitting in the bottom six. When the time's right, we'll reflect fully on it. There has been inconsistency there.

"We need to recruit well but the players that have been in there and will be moving on, I need to thank them for what they've done for the football club. The ones that are here, we need to kick on for next year's campaign."

  6. Fox 'naturally disappointed' to leave Heartspublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 18 May

Hearts interim head coach Liam Fox tells BBC Scotland: "I'm thrilled for the players, staff, supporters. We understand it's been a disappointing season overall. I'm hoping those four wins on the bounce sends them away feeling a wee bit better.

"I actually asked the fourth official what was going on and he thought it was a Kilmarnock player they were looking at. When Yan received the red, there was confusion int he dugout. I've not seen it back.

"It was another thing thrown at us today. Zander Clark came off injured, Ryan Fulton was injured second half. The players deserve huge credit for finding a way to win in what wasn't a good game.

"I'm naturally disappointed to be leaving the football club, but I tell the players all the time you've got a choice of what you do off a disappointment.

"I can choose to be angry or upset, but I'm choosing to be thankful and positive about the opportunity and the learnings. This experience will make me a better coach, manager, and person."

  8. County 'fortunate' to draw - Cowiepublished at 17:31 British Summer Time 18 May

    FT: Ross County 1-1 Motherwell

Ross County manager Don Cowie tells BBC Scotland: "In the end, we were fortunate to come away with a point but first half we were very good, and deservedly in front.

"We are just really disappointed we didn't manage to build on it in the second half.

"Motherwell made a lot of substitutions, had a carefree style, and put us under a lot of pressure.

"We find ourselves in the play-off not because of today, but because of the last two months. I was really keen for us to get that victory.

"I really enjoyed the first half, but it's being able to do that for the 90 minutes.

"If we perform the way we did first half, it gives us a real opportunity in the play-off. If we perform when we're not quite connected against Livingston, they'll take advantage. We have played against them before in the cup and they beat us after extra time.

"We know the challenge but what's important is we have the right mindset and get ready for Thursday night."

  10. Wimmer savours Motherwell reactionpublished at 17:21 British Summer Time 18 May

    FT: Ross County 1-1 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Michael Wimmer tells BBC Scotland: "I didn't expect us to need such a long time to come into the game. It was more the formation didn't suit the Ross County shape, and we had big problems on our left side, with some great saves from Ellery Balcombe.

"We were a little lucky to be only 1-0 behind at half-time, but the reaction was brilliant.

"I'm very happy because five weeks ago, we spoke about this, we needed to create more opportunities, and we did that really well on Wednesday and today.

"We finish the season with confidence and bring that into the new season."

Ross County had by far the better of the first half and led through a tremendous goal by Ronan Hale.

Hale nearly scored again at the start of the second half, but from there they got battered by Motherwell.

Michael Wimmer will be disappointed his team didn't win the game.

Seventh place in the Premiership secured and it's been a fruitful May for Hearts under Liam Fox's guidance.

Four wins on the trot puts a nice gloss on a poor campaign and Fox departs with his head held very high indeed.

Kilmarnock now need to make the right appointment to build on the platform Derek McInnes leaves. A number of players are out of contract offering the chance to revitalise the squad.

  15. FULL-TIME Kilmarnock 0-1 Heartspublished at 17:02 British Summer Time 18 May

The full-time whistle blows at Rugby Park and 10-man Hearts are victorious in what some are calling 'Del Clasico'.

Stephen Kingsley's daft goal wins it, but the game is most notable for the absence of Derek McInnes.

The current Killie manager seems to be on his way to Hearts, but he wasn't in the dugout today and was replaced by Chris Burke.

There was plenty of goodbyes at full-time too, with Lawrence Shankland quick to make his way over to the away fans.

  16. FULL-TIME Dundee 0-2 St Johnstonepublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 18 May

Dundee will be in next season's Scottish Premiership!

Tony Docherty's side knew a win would seal 10th place and safety - they delivered, with Lyall Cameron scoring a classy first-half opener and a late penalty. In the end, a draw would've sufficed after Ross County drew with Motherwell but the Dark Blues didn't know that and went about their business in the right manner.

Relegated St Johnstone's 16-year top-flight status ends with a whimper and, on this evidence, they have work to do to get their squad ready for a promotion push next term.

  19. FULL-TIME Ross County 1-1 Motherwellpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 18 May

It's the relegation play-off for Ross County - again.

For the third year in a row, the Staggies take their survival fight to the last possible stage, taking on Livingston over two legs on Thursday and Sunday.

Davie Martindale and the Livi Lions will be licking their lips.

Ronan Hale's 16th goal of the season gave the hosts a deserved lead, and they looked in full control of the contest until the final quarter, when, perhaps sensing a St Johnstone comeback was a forlorn hope, their dominance waned.

Motherwell went after them. They spurned some big chances before Moses Ebiye headed in the equaliser.

Ebiye could have won it at the end. So could Tawanda Maswanhise. And Tom Sparrow.

    In the end, nobody did.

Motherwell are done for another year. For Ross County, the battle continues.

  20. GREAT SAVE!published at 16:53 British Summer Time 18 May

    Ross County 1-1 Motherwell

Tell you what, Motherwell are launching everything at Ross County in the dying embers.

Tawanda Maswanhise burns down the right, cuts inside, and shoots on his left peg.

Jordan Amissah saves, the ball bobbles across the goal line and is scrambled away.

A moment later, Tom Sparrow is all alone in the County box, but his diving header is straight at Amissah.
