I gave it the big build up but sadly my faith was misplaced.

This has gone totally flat and has a 'get me to the beach' feel about it.

A few drives from distance are the extent of the excitement.

Sadly for Zander Clark, he's has had to come off with injury to be replaced in goal by Ryan Fulton. I'm not sure if that was the result of any early collision at a corner.

That hotel beer garden outside the stadium is looking ever more appealing.

Then a lighter moment - albeit a wonderful flourish of skill - from Ronan Hale.

The striker blocks Balcombe's clearance, the ball cannons out for a goal kick and then rolls back onto the pitch.

Hale sizes it up from a few yards off the left touchline and curls a beauty into the top bin. He seems a bit perplexed it wasn't given. Worth a try...

Michee Efete picks up possession on the right angle of the box, turns Ewan Wilson inside and out, and sees his rasping shot blocked by Ellery Balcombe.

Another Taylor Steven cross puts Dundee under more pressure with a teasing cross and Ryan Astley swings a leg at it to put the ball out and prevent it reaching a St Johnstone player.

Astley was never going to give that up...

Zac Ashworth bends in a terrific corner to the Motherwell back post.

Will Nightingale and Akil Wright rise, the former gets his forehead to it, but the looping effort is snatched by Ellery Balcombe on the dive.

A couple of half-chances for either side, with Hearts going pretty close just there.

It has been a very lively start by St Johnstone.

With their fate already sealed, perhaps the pressure is off and they can play with a bit of freedom.

That could spell bad news for Dundee.

The first real chance comes St Johnstone's way as Taylor Steven crosses and Mackenzie Kirk flicks the ball wide.

An inaccurate start to proceedings at McDiarmid Park - both sides are struggling in the final third.

Both teams are wearing their away strips today so St Johnstone are in black with Dundee in white tops and dark blue shorts.

First encouraging spell for Ross County after a nervy opening.

Ronan Hale thunders on to a Nohan Kenneh through ball and sees his shot deflected behind for a corner.

Hale is soon on the prowl again, winning his team another corner.

Nothing comes of the set-piece, but County have made a confident start.

Hearts were greeted to a chorus of boos on their emergence from the tunnel and there's been a wall of noise early on.
