Bromley score stoppage-time winner to clinch rollercoaster FA Cup tie

Bromley scored twice in stoppage time to snatch a dramatic 4-3 victory at Rochdale in a rollercoaster of an FA Cup first-round tie.

The League Two side were two up inside three minutes. They scored after just 19 seconds when Corey Whitely slotted wide of Rochdale keeper David Robson and doubled their advantage through Michael Cheek after a defensive mistake by Liam Hogan.

Rochdale pulled one back in the 24th minute, Sam Beckwith thundering home a 25-yard rising effort.

Robson denied Louis Dennis, Danny Imray and Whitely before the home side levelled on 52 minutes.

When Kyron Gordon’s attempted delivery from the right was blocked, the full-back smashed the rebound high into Grant Smith’s net from a tight angle.

Smith pushed shots from Ryan East and Gordon over the crossbar while Byron Webster’s header was cleared off the line by Hogan.

Dale took the lead in the 80th minute, 39-year-old Ian Henderson converting Connor McBride’s delivery from 10 yards.

But Bromley hit back again, Levi Amantchi heading Imray’s cross in from close range in the first minute of added time.

The Ravens won it a minute later when Whitely fired home from 20 yards, with the visitors finishing with 10 men after Imray picked up his second booking celebrating the winner.
